I hope for the man. I think about him bunches, and I have been checking his blog every single day for months looking for good news. I want nothing more than him to get better. (Just a note that I'd say that about anyone who was ill. He's not more special because he's a writer or anything. He's special because he's a person.)

That said, I'm done with reading his books. Eight was enough for me. I have a friend who doesn't mind reading them paraphrase the the new ones for me. I still want to know how the story ends, after all.

Eh. . . I'll be reading to the end. :) Thirteen may be a new lucky number. ;)

Unlike MacBeth, I've nothing invested in this series (I wish I could pull a quote but I suck at that!)

I've considered reading the books, but have too many on my list burn through.

Anyway I hope Jordan pulls through.

It's funny because it's true....

Anyway, one of his recent blog posts looks really hopeful. He's not cured, but some evil thingies in his blood have gone way down in numbers... Yes. "Evil thingies." We're pretty technical here, folks.

I recently sold or gave away all of my Wheel of Time books because of the unbearingly slugishness of the past several books. Maybe the past 7 books? But I will read the last book, because there are plenty of book overviews (for the two I will not have read) on the internet, and I've always believed that he really does have a spectacular ending lined up for us.

I dearly wish, however, that the series was much shorter and concise. It was on its way to establishing itself as one of the greatest "epics" in modern fantasy, and has now become, in some circles, a bit of a joke.

That said, not nearly as much of a joke as anything Goodkind writes. Jordan at least has a vision.

Yeah, I'll be reading to the end too...no way am I gonna not find out what happens, and no way am I gonna let the prequel and the 1st 11 books sit on my shelf without the last one. *sigh*

That said, I agree with Burgs (mainly) about the sluggishness of at least books 7-10. (Well, 8 wasn't too bad.)

Given Bk11 though, what I'm most worried about is that after dragging us through so many of them, he's going to be in an inordinate rush to close it off. Bk 11 was, in contrast (stark stark contrast) to Bk 10, too fast.

I couldn't get past book one for its sluggishness (and cliche, lack of imagination, poor writing, etc.). I can't imagine them getting any more sluggish.

Still, I wish him the best.

This is what I am worried about too. I wish I could have tweaked the pacing for the last 3 books and made it even. . . I think a lot of people would be happier with the series. :)

Agreed. In fact, that's exactly what I wished for somewhere in here.

Malik...you have no idea...

I think he has a blog, but I don't know the address off hand. . . go to www.dragonmount.com if you want info about him. . . it's the official site for WOT books. And yes. . . I am a member there too. :)

i found the first one to be sluggish in the beginning to, but after that...cake...loved every book...but yeah, 10 just took too damn long with everything, then 11 was like...a short story in comparison...anyway...*fingers crossed*

I'm just starting book 7. I thought the end of book 6 was pretty cool.

From most accounts it's going to be pretty slow going from here on...
