i try to spread the genius of Donaldson and not hoard it all for myself. However, in this case, i left it behined when i moved out of my mother's house. I doubt she's read it. So, i guess the foul means that ripped the book from my grasp would have to be....hmmmmm......the preessure put on me by my GF to leave home. STUPID WOMAN!!!
It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.

I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.

Yes, stand back...behind fire-proof shielding, at a distance of several metres at least, in case a flame war erupts.

When Covenant first sees the Bloodguard, they're described as being the same build as Stowndowners, and Stonedowners are established very early on as wide.

Just for reference:
(On Bloodguard) Their appearance caught Covenant's attention; they did not resemble the riders of the Warward. They were like Stonedownors in size and build, but they were flat-faced and brown-skinned, with curly hair cropped short. They wore short ocher tunics belted in blue that appeared to be made of vellum, and their lower legs and feet were bare. Simply standing casual and unarmed on the abutment, they bore themselves with an almost feline balance and alertness; they seemed ready to do battle at an instant's notice.

(In Stonedowners) Most of the people were shorter than he was - and considerably shorter than Trell-and they had dark hair, brown or black, again unlike Trell. But they were a stocky, broad-shouldered breed, and even the women and children gave an impression of physical strength; centuries of stone-work had shaped them to suit their labor.

well, I was actually agreeing with the physical description itself, which, as google shows, obviously points towards an asian/pacific origin, with perhaps a hint of latin and a touch of african, all of which falls well within the historical anthropological/geographical parameters. ;)

wouldn't that be the Ramen, drew? I always thought so, anyway....or are you perhaps inferring that the Ramen and Haruchai share some unknown genetic/racial origins, hence the natural tension and terse regard they share for each other? hhhmmm? :drevil:

Maori tradition tells us that their ancestors, in times long passed away, migrated from a hot country named Irihia (creative word jumble almost makes Haruchai?)
(ef. Vrihia, an ancent name for India)

Well the Ramen certanly behaved more as native Americans then the Haruchai; but for some reason I pictured them as pretty much White.

But the unknown genetic and racial origans between the Raman and Haruchai..I thought that was prety much a given.

Kind of like how the Woodhevlins are decentants of the Elohim, and the Stoendowners are decendants of the Brathairians

I have given a lot of thought to this in my minds eye----over 20 yrs of reading and re-reading the series, and I have to go with the South pacific ethnic backround as well. Now I always pictured them as nimble, even lithe like a gymnast, but as the quote stated they reminded TC of the Stonedowners. The Maori people would prob be the closest, how many actors are out there????What about the guy who played Jenga Fett in the Star Wars movies?

I think it's a little early to start thinking about actors for Runes.

He does look pretty good as a Haruchai.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Sorry, but whenever I see Tem Morrison I remember him beating the crap out of his wife. See Once Were Warriors.

There are a few Maori actors around though, so you'd have enough for the Bloodguard.
You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.
