Meh, Penny has a UTI, so she's unhappy, which is making all the rest of us unhappy as well.

Worst is the Vet wanted to keep her overnight on Friday to get a sample, and she tried so hard to escape she's got abrasion marks all over her face. (And they never managed to get a sample.)

Oh, no. Poor baby.

Seems to be doing a bit better now, antibiotics didn't appear to work at first, so they recommended changing her food, but has improved a little, and too fast for the food to have been a factor, so who knows. Just have to keep an eye on her I guess.

Damn cats. Damn vet.

What food did they have you switch to? Just curious because my youngest is on a special diet due to her chronic bladder issues.

It is quite, but even before this she always preferred dry food. Probably has something to do with how she was raised, maybe her previous owners only gave her dry stuff, so that's what she's comfortable with. (Although her sister, from the same previous owners, almost only east wet food.)

I've been using that exact food for 18 months or so now. (And yes, the wet version is nasty. I mean, most cat food is unappetizing at best, but it should be unappetizing in a way that appeals to cats.)

My youngest has interstitial cystitis, which basically gives her the symptoms of a UTI without any actual infection. She had a cystotomy to have stones removed a couple of years ago, and fingers crossed that the food will prevent that from being necessary again.

Your vet probably already said this, but anything you can do to get her to drink extra water is helpful too. I bought a fountain for mine, and the cat that I mainly bought it for is the only one that never drinks from it. Perverse little critters.

Funnily enough, Penny drinks more than any cat I've ever seen. She also has this belief that all water is hers. If you put down a water glass anywhere in the flat, she will have her face in it within seconds. Even if she's just drunk from somewhere else.

Yeah, I dunno...her symptoms seem to be gone, so hoping no surgery will be necessary.

My little Gracie ... maltese had an anal prolapse .. I think it was called that .. and the Vet said it WILL require surgery .. but its 4K .. and I was like eek .. but if she had to have it she had to have it. It has however remedied itself. So we are playing the watching brief with it.

We have water everywhere ..

But she is one of the greatest loves of my life .. when we got her as a pup she was very ill. They thought she might have pavo .. which is untreatable and will kill her. But it wasnt pavo She had millions of tests, and procedures, wouldnt eat .. was sooo tiny. She was on an IV and monitored by the Vet for almost a month before she could come home to us... and when they said .. theres nothing more we can do .. and prepare yourself because its not looking good .. and she wouldnt eat anything or drink.

Until one day she was nestled on my chest and my daughter said to me .. have you tried honey .. I dont know why I hadnt even thought of it .. well she smeared some on her finger and rubbed it on her lips .. and that was the start of her complete recovery. She licked her lips .. got a little energy burst and the rest is history.

Im glad Penny is doing much better. That is such very good news.

Yeah, Harley is being pretty hostile toward her at the moment though...not sure if she senses weakness and is trying to dominate her...
