Every IT guy has an Achilles heel. Thinking yours might have something to do with changing avatars. Just a guess.

On a more serious note, a minus to thinking about my avatar is that it has to do with "managing ones image on the internet," which can potentially be the most depressing thing I can think about.
(esp. when I think of how many CPU cycles young kids - I especially think of middle school girls - are devoting from their own precious minds to fret about what image of themselves they will put forward on social media)

But as potential amelioration to this problem... I got an idea.
We could start a Facebook campaign to get women to change their profile picture so we will bring up this issue.
I could try to get a bunch of my close friends to change their FB profile picture to an unflattering picture of themselves that they don't like.
When putting forth the meme, at the end, I would reassure them that if they don't do it, it's okay - I will still like them and all that.

Btw, guys... why is it that people don't let me make memes on Facebook, again?

I work in online marketing. My job description is a little vague, because nobody at the company can actually define what I do. I mostly point out problems. And I try and make sure people do what they're supposed to be doing. But I'm not that good at it, since I don't always do what I'm supposed to be doing myself. And at the moment I do a bit of project managing, since our project managers quit earlier this year.

I'm only an IT guy by default, since the company doesn't have a dedicated one and I either sorta know what I'm doing with hardware and software by dint of long practice, or I know where to look for answers.

As for Achilles heels, I'm practically covered in the damn things.

Well, Av. Traditionally I too have taken on the role of the office IT guy without actually being in the IT department. The City is the first time in about 15 years I don't spend 1/4 to 1/2 of my day performing IT tasks.
Truth be told I kind of miss it.
I haven't assembled a computer from individual components in over 3 years. That's kind of troubling when I think about it.
Maybe I'm sick that way but I've always enjoyed working on computers.

My new Avatar is the logo for my film making group (which hasn't made a film in 2 years, its all my fault).

Sounds like time to make a new film.

I agree but I still have a way to go to finish any one of three scripts I am working on.

The one that is furthest along is about a woman who works as an independent software engineer that begins to get untraceable messages on her computer about crimes about to be committed which she ultimately passes onto the police. Turns out the messages are coming from a serial killer from the future that is trying to erase his crimes before they happen.
The trick is finding ways to film the story in only a few locations and on an almost zero budget.

Good premise anyway. Get cracking.

Not as easy as it sounds.
Its fairly easy to dream up a premise but since I am directing, my script has to contain notations about the details of each scene, lighting, camera placement, movement and dialog.
Plus since we have no budget I have to envision the story occurring in only places I can shoot for free. Its pretty limiting.
I'll get it finished, hopefully soon.

Good luck. Yeah, it's definitely not as easy as it sounds. I've never done an entire project from scratch, but I know it's a lot of work.

Honestly considering the quality of our first two films I probably shouldn't attempt a third but most of our failings were due to inexperience, improvised equipment, all volunteer crew and no budget.
I keep thinking if we just play in the movie making sandbox for a while we'll find ways to innovate and maximize the potential of our resources and perhaps pull together a film that is flawed but at least satisfying.
We'll see.

Budget helps, but I'd rather watch a low budget movie with a good script than an expensive CGI-fest with no plot. And practice helps too.
