That is a good one. Notable for its qulaity, AND the fact that that song in particular knocked Disco out of he top of the charts, albiet temporarily.Cail wrote:Just thought of another one....
I can honestly say that I think "Baker Street" is one of the greatest songs ever.

I've never heard any of their stuff other than the three tunes that Lyr listed, but on the strength of those, I'd agree. Nothing to be embarrassed about there, Lyr.Human League was a cool band.

Can I say "Chris De Burgh"?
No?
Oh. Okay then.
Too bad about that Lady in Red song and album though, but I really liked him quite a bit before that. Particularly Don't Pay the Ferryman. Which isn't something I readily admit. But I have no shame anymore. I think that circuit burned out.

I can honestly say that I think "Baker Street" is one of the greatest songs ever. It's deeply unfashionable to think so, but if I cared about fashion I wouldn't be a member of the Watch.

Hey! That was the first album I ever bought-don't be messing with my Cat!
Even though On the Border is the coolest song on it.

Yes you can. Don't pay the ferryman was from an album called "The Getaway", which is great.Cagliostro wrote:Can I say "Chris De Burgh"?

I've got a geeky story about how I came to buy that album. I was playing D & D with my mates one night when we heard don't pay the ferryman on the radio, but didn't hear who it was by. I spent the next year looking through the local record shop trying to find the song until I stumbled upon the album, which I only picked up because of the cover - an lo and behold, The Getaway was in my record collection

Guilty pleasures
Thought I would make a seperate thread instead of hijacking the "What Are You Listening To" one.
Place to point out artists you thought were lame, but on listening found them very listen worthy.
My latest is the Jonas Brothers. Picked up their second album after listening to samples. These guys are quite talented. Do they write their own stuff? If so, they should have no problem moving into adult success.
