Haha! Yes, it has a lot to do with guessing. Perhaps there are some tactics of a kind … eg. I had PRI ? E the other day, but I didn’t try to guess the last letter because there were too many options at that early stage. Instead I went to other words that might have had a higher chance of being correct, and then came back to this one when some of the letters had been eliminated.

But, there is a fair bit of luck involved too!
