Xar, it sounds like your "friend" has more problems than you have. And people like that aren't worth wasting energy on.

What Sea said. The guy sounds like he has serious social skill problems, such as a lack of as well as mental issues. He's not worth you wasting energy on, Xar. Hugs to you anyway.

I am feeling better and I even got out of the house today. I dropped Moose at the apartment and am starting on my de-moosifying of Julie's house. Her fiance Mike is slightly allergic to dogs so I need to remove as much Moose hair as is possible. :?
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Amazing. I'm giving my two weeks tomorrow. School is in two and a half weeks. So, I feel amazing.
Also, feeling antsy for the HRC/Obama debate that starts in 45 minuts.

Xar- drop people in your life who add drama. Drop them like a bad habit. They're not worth the energy you spend thinking about them, and your world will be a better place without them.

Xar: Wow. You seem like a nice guy to me. I'm voting with the "mental issues on his part" crowd.

So...got a phone call from my brother tonight. My mom's in the hospital again -- congestive heart failure. The bro says she hasn't been eating and has been skipping her meds, and her legs basically swelled up due to water retention. The last couple of times this happened, a cancer diagnosis followed swiftly thereafter. Mom turned 93 last week, so the odds that they would do surgery this time are kind of crappy. (Plus, every time she gets anesthesia, she slides a little further into dementia -- so I'm not sure I want her under the knife again, in any case.)

Anyway, the bro says she'll probably be in the hospital through the weekend, and then she'll go into a care facility, and then we'll see. Chances are really good that she won't be going back to the ol' homestead -- she needs to live with somebody (to make sure she eats and takes her pills). And there's no way she'd put up with a live-in aide; she barely lets the visiting nurses in the door. She may end up living here with me yet....

Anyway, thanks for listening.

Xar, I wanted to add that I agree with everyone else. You do seem like a super guy, and unless you put on a good show for us, I'm guessing that the fault lies more with your former friend. I know that doesn't make it any easier to take, though.

And Ali, I hope that your mother improves quickly, and I hope that things work out in the best way possible for everyone. By the way, you can delete your own post (as long as no one has posted to it). There's an X button right next to the edit button. That deletes. It saves me when my computer hiccups and I have posted the thing twice. :D

I just got back from watching a flick with a friend of mine. She had a very comforting effect on me, which is nice after my horrible day at the dentists office.

I feel vaguely sick to my stomach, and have a headache. I also ache in my legs, but I can't tell if that is the storm, or insufficient sleep, or coming down with the flu. Either way, I have to teach 9 people this morning. At least I'll be done by 1:00pm. Oh, and did I mention that no one has shown up to help with my class (we try to teach them in pairs)? :?

I'm eating some crackers and drinking a rockstar energy drink. . . and hoping to make it through the morning.

Thanks, Lyr, for both the sympathy and the hint about the delete button. I think that's the first time I've ever double-posted...

No problem! I am no long nauseous, and I had a colleague show up to help me, so that's better. However, I have two students that seem actively hostle to the class and who seem to have taken an instant dislike to me. Ah well. . . I suppose I could make the next few hours hell for them, but I should probably not antagonize them any more than necessary.

Antagonise? psh.

Fail them. :P

If they want to play the game, you should immediately let them know you hold all the cards.

Well, I think I managed to win them over. The hostility level has gone down considerably. I guess I can turn on the charm when needed. :P

I'm at work. Wish I could have stayed home another day but Igor pissed off Yevgeniy and he quit. I get to come in feeling yucky and spend the day trying to hire another technician. Ugh. Just Ugh.
