Just bought Clouds Taste Metallic, the 1995 Flaming Lips album. Great stuff. You can see them paving the way for Soft Bulletin.
I hear that Zaireeka will be released on a single DVD. It's an experimental album by the Lips that was spread over 4 discs, which meant you needed 4 CD players, and every listening created a different experience.

Something Else, by The Kinks. I bought it today, making it my 4th Kinks album. These guys were vastly overrated.

*casting mind back*
Maybe in hindsight. But I think Ray Davies was recognised for the accomplished composer that he is from the start.

For most folks, the Kinks are second-rate British Invasion rockers. They're only known for their early singles, which is a shame, because starting from 1966 to 1971 they made some very consistent, brilliants LPs--a creative spurt that rivaled The Beatles and, in my opinion, surpassed The Stones and The Who.

I still like Preservation Acts 1 and 2. But most people I know who listen to the Kinks have no idea what I'm talking about when I mention them.
