I feel good. I'm heading out to lunch with mon frere. He's a high school science teacher and on the side owns a game store, so even though he lives 30 minutes away I rarely get to see him. So yay for that!

After that I am volunteering at a cool charity party. In exchange for hanging up and giving back coats to people for one hour I get entrance to the party. All the best restaurants, wineries, pubs, chocolatiers etc will be there offering samples of their goods. Last year a spa was giving free chair massages. The entry fee is typically $30-$35, but since I volunteer I'm getting in free. Not bad for an hour of work! I volunteered last year, and had a blast. Now I just have to remember not to overdo it! :D
The Best of 417 Magazine party will be held at the Springfield Exposition Center, 635 E. St. Louis Street, on Sunday, February 24, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The party will showcase “the Best” people, restaurants, retailers, organizations and live music from the area as voted by readers of 417 Magazine. All proceeds of the event benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks, Children’s Miracle Network, and Regional Girls Shelter.
“We are expecting a great crowd at the Best of 417 Magazine Party this year,” said Gary Whitaker, Publisher of 417 Magazine. “More than 50 local restaurants are participating, as well as many other retailers, so it is their chance to show off what they do best. It is a great chance for 417-landers to get out and experience The Best of 417 all in one place!” Best of 417 Winners, Candy Coburn and M-Dock will perform at the party along with live painting by Susan Sommer – Luarca. Her live painting will be auctioned off live at the Best of 417 Party. Party goers will have the chance to put their face on the cover of 417 Magazine in the custom covers photo booth and watch the first 2008 Karaoke Competition. Visit 417 Mag for more details about how to enter the Karaoke Competition and download an entry form.

The Best of 417 Magazine Party 2007 generated $44, 391.16 that supported four local children’s charities, and approximately 1800 people attended the event.

I just finished watching the NIU memorial service online. I thought about going down there for it, but I'll be there on Saturday.

Study hard, my friend. :D

The party was awesome. Free wine, free food, free massage, and free matchmaking. 8O I was standing there talking, and then she asks me what I think about 26-year-olds. I say that I don't mind 26-year-olds, and all the sudden she disappears. When I see her next, she comes over with her brother to introduce him to me. He was uber-shy, so he didn't try to get my number or anything. But it was surprising since I barely know this lady, and she is trying to throw us together. Something is in the air, I tell you. :P

I only got one hour of sleep last night, and when I did it was the most terrifying dream of my life (it involved a parrot with teeth). Despite all this, I feel remarkably awake. I managed to read for my oral exam from 4AM to 7AM.

I have a lot on my mind today. I'm tempted to try to escape all the things on my mind (and list of challenges), but I know that running away from my problems means only that they will be waiting for me when I return. But I still want to run away. :(

Here's a hug for ya, Lyr.

LF! Parrots with teeth? That sounds horrible.

I feel pretty good today. I'm over my horrible illness. I'm ready for tomorrow's writer meeting for the newest FBH project. I'm having a great hair day. Life is good!

Speaking of meeting writers, I met John Ringo on Friday. We had to read one of his books in my Sci-Fi class, and he came to speak. He writes military sci-fi--mainly adventure stuff with not much depth, but it's well-written and entertaining. He was very funny and totally unpretentious; you could tell he's experienced with speaking at conventions, such as DragonCon. Definitely a great first impression. On top of that, he didn't charge a cent for coming!

Thank you everyone for the concern and all the hugs, I've definitely needed them the last few days. Feeling a bit better today, though I'm still exhausted and I'm not sure if I'll ever get enough sleep again. I've promised to do better and try to relax more. It's good to be home, and back on KW, even better because, I'm finally getting away from dial-up!!!!!

Spent all weekend cramming for a test. Monday morning, found out the test was next week.

It would have been great to know that.

That always sucks. I crammed for a bio lab test recently and found out it was a week later than I thought. Bah. I'm currently spending this week getting ready for the second lab. It's tough stuff. Just doesn't come to me like English, at all. Luckily, it's the only class I have to put any real effort in.
