Led's first claw swipe misses, but the second sinks into the throat of the near-defenseless orc, and he falls, clutching at the red ruin created. (6 points)
Several prisoners come out, but only kill one orc, and wounding another.
Laurel's magic Missile spell zings home, blasting the shaman (2 points)
Beauregard hurls a dart into the back of the flat-footed orc now facing Led, piercing the unprotected skull (5 points) The orc collapses, merely incapacitated.
Marrik comes out charging to the southeast, managing to make it all the way to the group of orcs clustered near the Worg, and slashing furiously at the one within his reach, nearly decapitating it!! (CRITICAL HIT 10 points)
Skyseeker runs out, and dashes off to the west, looking to circle around behind Marrik to offer support with Darak. She hurls a javelin at the Worg, and stumbles, nearly falling, in shock as the projectile catches on fire in mid-air, before striking the evil wolf, burning him as well as piercing him. (9 points)
Vynarkus unleashes his blast on the already singed shaman, barely catching his arm (1 point)
Darak rushes out, pulling up well short of duplicating Marrik's rush, and hurls his enchanted hammer, knocking one orc back and off his feet, dead. (9 points)

Continuing to purposely take deep, even breaths as he scans through the throng of angry orcs, Beauregard can't help but feel a like a mouse hiding from a tiger --- a 'gaggle' of tigers. He smiks and chuckles silently to himself and readies another dart... Let's see who else is not paying attention, he mutters to himself ...

Feeling cramped by all of the prisoners around him, Led looks around for a place where he can move around more. He spots the human with the pole arm, and sees that his flank is only guarded by a couple of kobolds to the north. There!
[ooc] Shifted - 2nd round
Move northwest one square (through ally occupied space)
Move west two squares (through ally occupied space)
(one of the above will provoke an AoO, if that orc has any left this round)
Move south three suqares
Charge
Claw - kobold (to south)
Claw - kobold (to southwest)
(ignore the kobold to the east, though he might get AoO on me)
I assume that the various prisoners will kill that orc and that easter kobold on their own. If I can wait until they're done to make this move, it would save me the AoO, but we'd have to jockey for position. I'll take the AoO to get where I'm going.

Smiling grimly to herself at the lack of injury she caused the shaman, Laurel focuses harder on controlling the spell stored in the scroll. Popping up a second time to target the spell caster, she mutters the incantation again and lets fly another tiny missile of magical energy, calling upon Cerana to strengthen what damage it causes and hoping The Wild Bitch roles the dice in her favor this time...
...then again darts down behind the roof's edge for what little cover it provides.

Laurel stands, reading once more from her scroll, unleashing another unerring Magic Missile upon the shaman (3 points
Beauregard's dart wounds the last of the northern orc group, but the badly wounded creature is still on its feet. (4 points)
Garm leaps up on the wagon, trying to close to melee with the shaman. However, in so doing he exposes his flank to the orc between the wagon and the pen, which quickly strikes at him, falchion lancing into his body (10 points) This unbalances him, and he falls down in the wagon. The kobold in the wagon seizes this opportunity to strike at him as well! (3 points). This opportunity is also seized by the man with the halberd, but his polearm gouges a chunk from the side of the wagon, and not Garm's much-abused body.
Marrik swings at the orc to his southeast, but misses!
The shaman casts a spell on himself from a scroll he pulled out.
The halberdier is waiting to see who will come within his reach.
Led quickly scurries around the last orc, before dashing off and charging the kobolds. In passing, the sorely wounded orc swings, but Led's toughened hide causes the blade to skitter off harmlessly. Then he savages both kobolds, leaving a couple of piles of mined meat at his feet. (7 points and 8 points)
The halberd-wielding human now chops at Led, heavy axe-head penetrating his armoring! ( 8 points)
Skyseeker continues her run towards Marrik, throwing another enchanted javelin at the Worg, this one flying wide of the mark in a brilliant flame-tracked arc.
The orc archers show their command of their chosen weapons, each unleashing two rapid shots, one aiming at Led the other at Vynarkus....each only landing a single shaft, albeit one propelled by the prodigious musculature of the archer. (Led--10 points --Vynarkus--11 points)
Vynarkus unleashes another blast upon the shaman, this blast barely missing!
The kobold on the wagon stabs Garm Thunderstroke as he lays there (2 points)
The kobold on the other wagon leaps down, astride the body of his fallen brother, and stabs at Led, but misses wildly
The kobold between Led and the ex-prisoner elects for the easier target, thrusting at the poor soul, sinking his spearhead deep into his thigh, a gushing wound which slays the recently liberated man. (5 points)
Despite having the beast nearly surrounded, the freed prisoners are unable to finish off the northernmost orc, with Beauregard's dart still deep in its neck.
Darak advances a bit further, and hurls his hammer, striking down the orc closing upon Skyseeker! ( 11 points
The orc between the wagon and the pen now swings his blade at the freed man, brutally hacking him down, advancing to stand over the corpse! (9 points)
The wounded orc hews at the human to his southeast, the powerful stroke nearly cutting him in half (11 points)
The rearmost orc slips past the archers, and plants himself squarely in front of the shifter, swinging fiercely at him, but missing.
Two orcs try to kill the paladin...only one of them hitting him (8 points)
The Worg wants no further part of flaming magic weapons being thrown at it, and quickly trots around to the pen, then dashes north, and tearing into the freed prisoner to the northwest (9 points)

Beauregard took careful aim from the distance, attempting to sing a well-placed dart in one of them.

Glaring at the scroll in which she had put her hope, Laurel regards the slight damage to the spell caster with disgust. "...and now you protect yourself by casting Shield. Well fine. Be that way. I'll get back to you..."
Looking at the mass carnage occurring below her, Laurel turns her attention to the orc beset by prisoners and Beauregard. Once more drawing upon the scroll, she recites the incantation, popping up above the roof's edge and casting a lone missile of magical energy at the orc directly south of her position. Then, darting back down while discarding the scroll, she pulls out one of the new-to-her masterwork arrows and nocks it, while drawing breath to launch into song...

Laurel's Magic Missile blasts into the orc, finishing him. (3 points)
Beauregard waits for a better opportunity to be able to sneak attack someone...perhaps that Worg might give him a chance....
Garm gets to his feet, avoiding the opportunistic attacks of the Kobolds and the orc near him.
Marrik swings, and this time hacks down the orc to the south (6 points)
The Shaman casts a spell at Led, a sickly yellow-green ray emanating from his finger...but it fizzles out as a golden glow suffuses the mysterious bracers!
The halberdier steps northwest, and swings at Marrik, landing a telling blow (9 points)
Led drinks a CMW potion, and his inattention draws an attack from the halberdier, but he misses! (heal 13)
Skyseeker moves to the north of Led, hurling her last javelin at the northern archer, transfixing him with a burning shaft. (14 points)
The remaining archer fires once at Skyseeker, and once at Laurel, both shafts flying true. (Skyseeker--9 points--Laurel--12 points)
One Kobold runs from north of the wagon to near the Magic Missile-slain orc, stabbing the human north of the fallen orc, killing him. (5 points)
The kobold still in the wagon stabs at the near-dead fighter, sending him toppling to the wagon's floor ( 4 points)
The last surviving kobold dashes forward and thrusts his spear at Led, in futility.
Vynarkus drinks the potion of Aid, gaining 9 temporary HP among the other benefits.
One freed man hews desperately at the kobold that just slew his friend, and manages to slay the little monster. (4 points)
The other stabs with some trepidation at the huge wolf, but misses.
Darak hurls his hammer at the remaining orc archer, striking and slaying it! (10 points)
One orc and the Worg run forward side-by-side, to attack Led and Skyseeker, respectively.but Beauregard stieks now as teh Worg is facing away from him, flinging a dart into the exposed haunches ( 7 points...the orc's blade biting into the barely-healed Shifter, the Worg's bite opening the stomach of the elven scout, she collapses clutching at the gaping wound.(Led--8 points Skyseeker--6 points)
One orc stands his ground before the paladin, swinging away, but not landing a blow.
Another orc charges from between the wagons to land a blow upon the paladin, laying him low (5 points)

Vynarkus either attacks the shaman again, or attacks the orc or worg attacking skyseeker and led if they seem injured badly enough to be defeated by such.
[ooc]skyseeker is down; marrik is down; Garn is (dead?); Laurel, Led, and I are all injured; Beau is fine; Darak is uninjured. the prisoners are too varying for me to describe.

The arrow striking true as it pierces the bard's new chain shirt, Laurel collapses to the ground. A dream state overtakes her as her life's blood flows out from the wound as she slowly dies. (12 damage on a total of 11 HPs)
heh, she thought wryly to herself as consciousness slipped away. I thought I was so smart, holding on to my Song of Wholeness (CLW). Now what good has it done anyone? I can't sing it for anyone's benefit, least of all my own. Nor can I access the divine cure spells on these other scrolls. I hope the warlock remembers what I told him was on the scrolls, so he can use them to help others as he can, she thinks as a final thought, as her eyes roll into the back of her head and awareness of anything around her vanishes...

Seeing most of his comrades fall to the enemy, and feeling the pain of yet another wound, Led backs up cautiously to stand over Skyseeker's dying body. He spies some freed prisoners coming up behind the worg, and knows that Darak, Beauregard, and those on the roof are not yet out of action. He thinks to himself "Maybe I can keep their attention long enough for my allies to kill them from behind."
"Kill the worg! I'll take the rest of them!"

Beauregard avails himself of the still exposed back of the Worg...this dart flying with uncanny accuracy despite the long range, lancing perfectly up under the back of the skull. It collapses and convulses terminally. (CRITICAL HIT 12 points)
The Shaman casts Sleep, the spell encompassing Beauregard as well as the two ex-prisoners. Only the halfling resist the mystic slumber!
The halberider swings the axe-head of his weapon at Led, who is proving an impossible target, ducking and weaving.
Led intimidates the orc and the kobold facing him with his apparent bloodthirstiness, gore dripping from his claws. The Worg is unimpressed, however.
The kobold still in the wagon is giving Garms body some extra pokes to keep him down..not to mention its own hide out of danger.
The other kobold makes only the most cursory of attempts to stab Led.
Vynarkus unleashes his Blast at the shaman, the Aid potion he had consumed enhancing his aim, letting him get past the mystic Shield the orc had cast. (3 points)
Darak moves Northeast 15', somewhat behind Led, and hurls his hammer at the orcs to his direct south, 20' away, crushing in the chest of the nearer one (9 points)
The orc behind the one Darak felled rushes forward, and elects for a less elusive target, namely Led. However neither he nor the orc already in melee with the nimble shifter manage to land a blow.
/ooc--there are 2 orcs left, and 2 kobolds. One kobold is in the wagon next to Garm (the purple blob on the brown of the wagon), the other is directly south of Led. That kobold is flanked by both remaining orcs. Plus the Shaman and the halberdier.

Led thinks back to when he had more than one healing potion in his hands, and wonders where the rest of them got to? He knows that Marrik has one on his person, as does Skyseeker. If there weren't all these weapons attacking him, he might stop to administer one to Skyseeker, right behind him. Perhaps once these orcs and kobold are dead?

Drifting silently, unaware, as the battle rages on...
I have often told you stories about the way
I lived the life of a drifter waiting for the day
When I'd take your hand and sing you songs
And may be you would say
Come lay with me and love me
And I would surely stay
But I feel I'm growing older
And the songs that I have sung
Echo in the distance
Like the sound
Of a windmill going round
Guess I'll always be
A soldier of fortune.
Many times I've been a traveler
I looked for something new
In days of old when nights were cold
I wandered without you
Those days I thought my eyes
Had seen you standing near
Though blindness is confusing
It shows that you're not here.
Now I feel I'm growing older
And the songs that I have sung
Echo in the distance
Like the sound
Of a windmill going round
Guess I'll always be
A soldier of fortune
Yes, I can hear the sound
of a windmill going round
I guess I'll always be
a soldier of fortune.
I guess I'll always be
a soldier of fortune.

Vynarkus looks over at the collapsed bard and sighs.
Why does this have to happen to the person who both boosts and heals us? If it was anyone else, I could just wait until after the battle and keep shooting!
...I'm not even sure I can do this...
Vynarkus takes out one of the divine scrolls Laurel had given him earlier, opens it to Cure Moderate Wounds, and reads the incantation printed there, then uses it on Laurel if he can.

Beauregard jumps down, and runs around the pen, hoping to be able to catch the shaman from behind by surprise next round!
The shaman casts a spell from a scroll on one of the fallen archers. (Cure Moderate Wounds)
The halberdier steps forward, swinging, again to no effect, at Led.
Led tears at the orc twice, both times rending his flesh, killing it (4 points and 4 points)
Vynarkus casts Cure Moderate Wounds on Laurel (heal 13 points)
The kobold starts running away as fast as its little feet can carry it.
Darak hurls his hammer, but misses the orc.
The orc moves Northwest, then north, avoiding the threat of Led and closing with Darak, landing a slash! (6 points)

Her eyes slowly opening, the bard looks into the concerned face of the warlock and smiles. Then grasping the masterwork arrow she had dropped when hit, she once again nocks it and aims towards the shaman.
But she needed to steady her nerves after having been hit and cured of her wounds. So, taking a deep breath as her quivering aim steadies, she lets forth with a song to bolster her and her companions courage...

Just a small town girl
livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere
Just a city boy
born and raised in south Mekhoi
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere
A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on
Strangers waiting
up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetwise people
living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night
Working hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on...
Strangers waiting
up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetwise people
living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night
Dont stop believin'
Hold on to the feelin
Streetwise people
Dont stop believin'
Hold on to the feelin
