Welcome aboard ;)

I think that's a plinth with a metal tray atop it. Actually, Linden's expression is the best of all in this atrocity imo. There are so many bad things in that cover. Thank god I have the British edition of this book.

 Thanks for this last entry, Shuram!! Seems our entries are complete, and I will be choosing and announcing the WINNER and next HOST of the Bad Illustrating Contest TOMORROW!!!

(And yes, that cover really is a tragic embarrassment. With all the competition in book cover art, you would have thought...)

A ranyhyn foal, little Foamy, baby Arch of Time, and a wee urvile. Oh, and the Three-Winged Bird as a li'l twirpy.
Congratulations Frosty!! I think you've successfully broken all our brains permanently. :) :Hail: :R

Huh, that sickening schmaltzfest exuding pink sticky goo and soggy rainbows and sugar-drunken butterflies won? 8O Aaaaargh...I mean thank you.

Next theme'll have to wait for a bit, I'm off to Denmark tomorrow.

Minor correction: Frost is a she.

BTW, was it you who (accidentally?) replaced the contents of my post in the fic thread with something else? :P

*bows to the chorus of boos*

New assignment:

Now, as we all run in squares and triangles with excitement afore the pending release of The Last Dark, let us channel this eagerness into new, wondrous fashionings of art! Create a colorful cover for the book. Preferably this should be a dramatic action scene portraying the doom of the Land, with our heroes fighting against the nefarious forces of Lord Foul to their last breath. However, as with our past contest pieces, "preferably" has come to synonymize with "stomp on the rules and add monkeys and Moomin trolls". Hence, get creative! Also explain which character is which and what they're doing.

You'll have time to produce crack until 14.4.

The Worm has eaten the sun, the moon and the stars out of the skies. It is the time of the Last Dark. Can our heroes find their way in this darkness or are they doomed to wander it aimlessly, helpless to prevent their dooms?

:lol: After Sweet and Rhino-Honninscrave, SRD would probably be thrilled over the pixelated, lopsided letters doodled in MSpaint!

Come on, people, lichen is growing around the edges of this thread and cobwebs hang from the ceiling! :P Even though the sea is iced over hereabouts, some further submissions might bring in a whiff of fresh spring air.

Or do we perchance need a different topic? Has TLD become hackneyed already?

I'd like to weigh in, but I can;t get past your (good illustrating) Last Dark cartoon promo pic, Frosty. Just too intimidating. I'll see if I can get some time this week to give it a go. Maybe I'll just spoof your picture.

 The cartoon's kinda dubious, considering that it began as a parody sparked by Sarangrave Survivor and people's complaints over the "new" Giants. Spoofs of parodies are perfectly acceptable. So, eagerly awaiting for more entries!
