I'm...(drum-roll)...Jacob...pleased to text y'all. I'm 29, Wisconsin, US native. I've read all but book#6 thrice - never could get through to the end of WGW but once. My dad introduced the series to me n my sister when I was 'bout 15.
I'm not really a fantasy fan...as it seems that all/most of fantasy is written specifically AS a rip-off/homage to Tolkien...I actually hadn't read LoTR until after the movies, and I can honestly say that I love them both. I gave TC a chance because my Dad said it was the greatest thing this side of Dune.
Covenant's beginning chapters captivated me...and as I learned to love the Land, I learned to hate Foul, more than Covenant, and I also had empathy for the wretch...Foamfollower made a place in my heart...the death of the unHomed squeezed my intestines...the Jehirrin touched my soul...TWL was like nails scraping my back...Vain is the greatest creation freakin' EVER!!!...the uttering of the word, "Nom", had me reeling with "no freakin' way" over and over for ten minutes, gaping at the ingenuity, mesmerized...Linden gave another side to the story...
...Foul's a b**ch.
While SRD didn't quite take the story on the path I felt it deserved, I found greatness in it...and it has left a bright scar across my heart. It's good to see the mark of this beast bared shamelessly by others, too...
