The two new cd's I just got! Michael McDonald "The Ultimate Collection" and "The Greatest Hits of Kenny Loggins." The show "Yacht Rock" has left an undeniable scar on me and I LIKE it!
Shine sweet freedom
Shine it out on me....

New Flogging Molly album, Float. Just in time for St. Patty's Day.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
-George Steiner
Hmm. Works for me (and I tried bringing it up in explorer as well). If it doesn't for you, you can just go to allmusic.com and type in a search for Flogging Molly. No review for it, though, so it's just a track list, samples, and album art.

Hardingrock is a collaboration between Ihsahn (of influential black metal band Emperor), his wife Ihriel (of quasi-experimental atmospheric metal band Peccatum) and fiddle player to the Norwegian royal family, Knut Buen. It's basically a hybrid of Buen's trademark melancholy take on traditional Norse folk melodies (usually played as cheery jigs), and Ihsahn/Ihriel's metal expertise. And, surprisingly enough, the whole thing was Buen's idea.
It's an interesting album; the tracks that work best are the ones that emphasise Buen's performance, with the rock elements playing second fiddle (pun intended). My picks of the bunch would be Den bergtekne and Faen pa bordstabelen.
"-People think dreams aren't real just because they aren't made of matter, of particles. Dreams are real. But they are made of viewpoints, of images, of memories and puns and lost hopes."
