Not this year. I won't be ready by August, but I'll be back next year. It's really not that bad. The triathlon is an excuse. I find exercise is easier with a goal.

Next Tuesday is a public holiday, so we're going to be closed on Monday to give the teams a long weekend break...everybody has been putting in insane hours during this whole pandemic thing, and people are starting to get close to burning out.

This has been an absurdly long week.

It's a good thing I appreciate SD's humor.

So, I had my initial consultation with a new endocrinologist at EvergreenHealth today. Of course, I was screened for Covid-19 symptoms as I entered the building from the parking garage and given a sticker I never looked at designating I've been screened to put on the left side of my chest. I still had the sticker on when I came home.

SD took one look at the sticker and started chuckling.
"What?" I asked.
"I'm just thinking about two years ago," he replied.
"What about two years ago?"

In response, he reached over, pulled off the sticker, and showed the woman who had a double mastectomy in June of 2018 the sticker she was wearing on her left reconstructed breast which read...

Well hell. Problem with taking a long weekend is that so much has to be done in the remaining days. And today is the first day in 2 weeks that I haven't had to have client / internal meetings.

Which means I get to do all the stuff that has been put off as a result of said meetings.

So, very busy all round.

In cat news, Harley is doing well, putting on weight etc. Taking her for an x-ray on Saturday, and they will decide if the ex-fix frame can come off.

On the other hand, taking my Ginger to the vet on Tuesday for a follow-up blood test, because his fluid intake has gone up quite a lot and they worried it might be diabetes for gods sake.

Clearly it never ends.

Otherwise though, all good for the moist part.

Glad y'all are on top of your boy's fluid intake. Many would probably just shrug it off until things got desperate.

Also glad to hear Harley is healing well. I hope she's being spoiled with lots of cuddles when she is receptive to them.

Well, I was a bit concerned about it, so when he picked up this conjunctivitis recently and I took him to the vet for that, I mentioned it since I knew it could be a symptom of something.

As for Harley, she's still prepared to sleep a lot, but also not giving her much choice as keeping her pretty confined. But she's not trying too hard to get out yet.

Might change once the ex-fix comes off, but she will still be in a "cast" for a while after that. (It's not really a cast, just bandages, but it might as well be. )

It's also winter here and bloody freezing these last few days, so she has her own hot water bottle. Here she is:

She looks comfy. Fingers crossed for Mr. Ginger not having anything serious. I have strictly forbidden my other cats to get sick while Min is going through treatment, and they've been cooperative so far.

I haven't been around much because my work schedule is a bit soul-destroying right now. We have a new middle manager who is a contender for being the least mature person I have ever worked with. Long story short, he got into a huge fight with his boss, which he won? by claiming he has corona symptoms. And spent the rest of the week claiming he was having trouble getting tested. So we're all wondering if we've really been exposed. Fun times.

That kitty looks about as cozy as a kitteh can get. I feel healing endorphins welling up just looking.

A former student of mine asked me to beta read his fantasy novel.

Now, I was prepared for it to be garbage and maybe I'd suffer through and then be diplomatic. I'm in chapter 3 and starting to feel a girly squeal of hopeful delight!

I might have you beat. I had one supervisor complain that I wasn't working Sunday overtime, because I was running the Chicago Triathlon. She was upset, because the data in the database was messy. But the data was messy because of idiotic decisions she made during tax season. Basically, she wanted me to do the overtime to fix her mistakes. I don't work there anymore.

Don't talk to me about messy client data.

Kitty is less happy at the moment, because she had the ex-fix off her leg on Saturday, so I assume she still a bit sore.

Ginger back to vet tomorrow for another blood test, Harley back to (different) vet on Wed for bandage changes. Still has 2 pins in, surgeon says maybe can take them out in 2 weeks.

Me...I'm fine.

My husband asked me yesterday how old Dusty, our kitty, is, and I realized she has to be 10 by now (as with all our adopted cats in the past we don't know her actual birthday). Where does the time go?

We got Willy as a puppy, and he's almost 4 already. And boy is he a nice doggo. Orellia, who we also adopted, is over 7. Sheesh.

George, the immortal one-eyed parrot, is over 20. Depending on what you read, African gray parrots live 55 to 80 years, so he's still an awkward millennial. (That's assuming he was a chick when the people who gave him to us bought him for about $10 twenty years ago.)

Thankfully all pets are healthy right now. I hope all your kitty gets well soon, Av.

Thanks Deer, I'm sure she'll be fine. Already come a long way, although can't believe it's been nearly 6 weeks already. Damn cats.

Well, good news, Ginger does not have diabetes, his glucose is back to normal and everything looks fine.

I've gotten a notice saying I will have no power at home from 08h00 to 16h00, which kinda interferes with my week.

Other than that, as good as can be expected I guess, and hope the same is true for everybody else.
