Ah, I really enjoyed the Kushiel books,
though the sex could be disturbing (the main character has training as a spy and a courtesan, so the sex can be a bit graphic - though it is always important to both the plot and character development - makingthis is one of the best uses of sex scenes I am aware of in fantasy - it is there, and can be quite icky (many of the scenes involve S&M) - but it is never gratuitous.)

I am glad you are enjoying them.

You might also enjoy the Termeraire (dragon) books by Naomi Novik as well.

We used to have a McCaffrey forum here, but it was deleted due to inactivity. I'm a fan of DoP as well, but IMHO they're not in the same league as Covenant.

That it is. I love Bakker.
That said, I did have a bit of trouble initally getting into the first book. Every time I would really get into a particular character or plot, Bakker would shift things on me. But I stuck with it, and am very glad I did. Really good stuff, just wonderful.

Reading, for the umpteenth time, ALL the TC books. Am into number four now; will be done with all six (don't own ROTE yet, but have read it from the library) in a couple of weeks. I devour books. Can't get enough of the TC chronicles. I believe SRD is a genius, but just wish I didn't need a dictionary to read them. I have a decent vocab, but not large enough to include "inhermeticeutable." I can't even find the meaning of that one. No one has it listed online or anywhere else. It was said by Pitchwife, I believe, in the 2nd chronicles, but I forget which book. I'm in that set now; I'll try to notate where it is. Anyone know what it means? How about "coloquy?" This would be a great topic! I think I might see about that.......

Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind.
I'm really not sure if I'm enjoying it or not, but it has got me hooked anyway! Went out today and bought the whole series secondhand, of course!)
