I'm off to Electric Picnic festival in Ireland this weekend. I'm a bit worried because my last few festival-experiences have been at Glastonbury and this is gonna be several orders of magnitude smaller! I am determined not to spend the whole weekend thinking "but at glasto...."!

Heh Biffy Clyro were there so i was happy.

Being about 20 miles form my home, most of my friends were there and almost the whole capacity ( around 11000 i think ) were pretty local people.

ARLO GUTHRIE PLAYED!!!

I saw him about 10 years ago in N Ireland. He was fantastic (and fantastically weird!). Did you see him?

saw a friend in his band the Floaters. they are a parody type rock band. excellent stuff. they do a rap thing that is outstanding. and a mix of Ohio/Fortunate Son that is stunning. they dedicated it to me and julie. and Billy Gibbins of ZZ Top was at the bar. julie bumped into him twice and didn't realize it. (i didn't know he was there)

I've finally finished my year's Radiohead binge. Eight shows in three different countries seems respectable enough, especially when I start to think about how much I spent on it all.
I'll miss them though. And they just got better and better as they went on; the final show (also the last of the tour) was just spectacular.

Speaking of Biffy Clyro, I've just found out where that album name comes from (or at least where I assume it comes from). You know, The Vertigo of Bliss? I've been reading a book called I, Lucifer, and at one point Lucifer is describing some kind of fever dream he experienced during his time as a human (the book is about Lucifer temporarily living as a somewhat talentless writer). He mentions a sense of vertigo brought on by a delusion that his head is full of infinite space, topped by a blue sky of impossible depth. He describes this sensation as "the vertigo of bliss", then goes on to say this should be the title of something. He doesn't know what, but he thinks it should definitely be a title.

I saw Rise Against at the Glasgw garage on Tuesday night, really good gig.

I just found out that Arab Strap are splitting up But I've ordered tickets to the Bristol date of their farewell tour so that softens the blow a little.

It is indeed a good book. Mostly humorous, but does raise some interesting questions (and possible answers) about God, Jesus, the Bible, etc. "He knew I was there, of course. God allowed the Devil into Eden. Need I, actually, say more?"

Wellington hasn't fared particularly well for live shows of late - the last great one was One Self (UK hip-hop act), and a few other good electronic acts. However, Coldcut is supposedly playing on the 29th which I'll definitely be up for, except that the advertising regarding the show is conflicting. I can't get a straight answer out of anyone to see whether they're even playing or not, and I certainly don't know where.

The only bands that have played or are due to play in Wellington, are those new-wave angsty faux-goth bands like... I dunno... My Chemical Romance, or whoever it is that 14 year old girls are into at the moment - the ones that have supposedly clever non-sequiturs as band names at any rate. Nothing personal against fans of theirs obviously, they just make me want to try my hand at DIY lobotomy.

oh yeah!!!! this humdinger of a festival is TOTALLY FREEEEEEE!!!!

i got awesome pics year before last but i missed last year. i will NOT be missin THIS year!!!
