SoulBiter, you waited perhaps longer than anyone to present yourself. We were getting worried.

But you did so with great courtesy and humility, and have been rewarded. Vanhyn will be proud to bear you, and approaches now.

Iolanthe, Ranyhyn are, indeed, kind to the less-, and even un-, skilled riders. Are you presenting yourself for consideration?

If that is the case, I am ready to be considered.

Far be it for me to speak for the Plains of Ra, but you sound more like you're allowing them to consider you than asking them to consider you. That might be what Plains meant in response to Iolanthe, who is "willing to try a Ranyhyn".

Tail of the sky. Mane of the world. In deep humility, if I am acceptable I would be honoured.

Quite the other way. On the basis that the humble and unqualified might be considered, I bow to the judgment of the Great Horses. My hesitation comes from my own unworthiness; my request comes from my need.
Hail, Ranyhyn; gallop, play!
Khelenbrabanaal's regal children,
Crowned with forehead stars.
Dance free in silver grass,
Veiled with golden sun,
Spirit of the open Land.
Hail!

Iolanthe and deer of the dawn. I certainly owe you two an apology. Menolly will let us know if I have broken a record in lateness.
In my defence, there were major things to deal with. I had to go to Covenant's world in the 1930s, and try to help with the Dust Bowl on their Great Plains. Also, Ragnarök made an absolute mess of Vigrid. Cleaning and cleaning and cleaning.
So, without further ado...
Iolanthe, Soortyn fast approaches.
deer of the dawn, Sendelyn will be joining you soon.
May all of your adventures be grand!

Pffth, it did not. Ra exaggerates, as usual. Útgarða-Loki and Eggthér the Kannel-Player just wandered over, happily quaffing koskenkorva, and told everything about the event. A tiny bit of scuffling and manly measuring of swordblades, and in the end, the Æsir and Jötnar made a truce. Þórr got jailed for publishing racial slurs about the Jötnar on the internet.
Also, it's written
Vígríðr. </Norse mythology spelling nazi>

:P:P:biggrin:
(I bet nobody would want to witness me to watching the American Thor movie another time.

Reaction would be rather stronger than
that of Humon.)

Oh joy, oh rapture unforeseen,
The clouded sky is now serene,
The god of day — the orb of love,
Has hung his ensign high above,
The sky is all ablaze. [HMS Pinafore - G&S]
Soortyn has arrived! Thank you, thank you.

I only keep track of presenters' waits against my own, so there may be longer. However, deer and Iolanthe waited two full months. My wait was five weeks. They got me beat.

Worth the wait.
Sendelyn, hail. I dreamed of ponies
Shaggy-hoofed and shimmer-maned
As a child so lonesome.
I looked to thoroughbreds, sleek and hail
Their thunder was music to my ears
When my heart was young.
I look to the horizon. What meets my eyes
Is Spirit-horse incarnate! Hail Ranyhyn!
Sendelyn, hail!

So, more people get the horsies. Am I going to get one now? You should remember who you're dealing with, for not complying with my wishes may have repercussions.
Certainly, you can have repercussions after complying with my wishes as well, however, trying my patience is not a healthy sport.

The
Lurker of the Sarangrave does not approve of this thread.
. . .
(By the way, this picture had a happy ending, in case anyone is wondering)

Much as I had been wondering when this thread was going to resurface, this is not what Pair O' Docks and I were waiting for.

OH YEAH, I've had so much fun reading these posts, here, that I almost forgot why I came in the first place!
Run, Ranyhyn:
gallop, play--
feed, and drink, and coat-gloss gleam.
You are the marrow of the earth.
Nor rein will curb, or bit control--
no claw or fang unpunished rend;
no horse-blood drop without the healing grass
We are the Ramen, born to serve:
Manethrall curry,
Cord protect,
Winhome hearth and bed anneal--
our feet do not bear our hearts away.
Grass-grown hooves, and forehead stars;
hocks and withers earth-wood bloom:
regal Ranyhyn, gallop, run--
we serve the Tail of the Sky,
Mane of the World.
I am Ramen, born to serve:
Cord protect, hearth and bed anneal--
my feet does not bear my heart away.
Grass-grown hooves, and forehead stars;
hocks and withers earth-wood bloom:
regal Ranyhyn, gallop, run--
I serve the Tail of the Sky,
Mane of the World.
[And for good measure:]
Something there is in beauty
which grows in the soul of the beholder
like a flower.
[I nicker, display many graceful arm flourishes, and bow low, my forehead nearly touching the ground.]
[Also humbly acknowledging the inspiration of the post here of the late, great Furl's Fire, with whom I never had the honor of conversing.]

Auspicious that you should invoke her name today, Cord. While she is missed perhaps a bit more acutely on this date, there is much joy for having had the benefit of her presence here...and of seeing her so clearly present again in photos of her grandchildren.
Hail, Furls Fire!

I saw her post here that reminded me of the verses from
Lord Foul's Bane, and didn't feel right about using her idea without giving her public credit for the inspiration. I was truly unaware today's date was significant with regards to her memory. I've really enjoyed reading a lot of her wonderful posts all around the Watch and in this particular case thought she got it
exactly right, in remembering the full Ramen song when calling for Ranyhyn. If my timing was poor in any way, I deeply apologize.

Beautiful to know, Savor Dam, and I thank you very much for sharing that! My best wishes, and a Hail from an admiring stranger to Furl's Fire. She still inspires.
