Fantastic episode.

I always liked the Chief. Even more now that he's a cylon, but still fighting the good fight.

Tigh, too, of course. iQuestor, I was sort of rooting for your theory. Would have been a truly great death for him!

And I sure hope the end wasn't Baltar's dream or something!

Indeed, great episode. What was Tyrol so worried about after he disabled the FTL?

Don't know what that was on the wall. Damage? Galactica about to blow?

I forgot about that. It looked like a rip in the bulkhead, above the FTL drive. I dunno. I hope we find out.

Fisty - thanks man , but as far as my theory, I was also hoping, it would have been a good death for him. However the opening scenes where they go in and get Adama and Tigh lead me to beleive it wasnt a shrapnel grenade, but a concussion type used to disable with a shock wave (hence Adama's ear bleeding). In that case, it doesnt make sense for anyone to jump on it since they arent fatal.

I watched the episode again, and I agree with you Fist - there appears to be some pretty massive damage to Galactica.

Was the Galactica bleeding?
Is it a Cylon too?
Why else was Leoben able to over-ride Galactica's radio block?

No, I don't think so but it did pop into my head as I was watching it.

HOLY COW that's a great thought, but doubtful....after all of the damage that Galactica has sustained, it only started to bleed now?

I guess the answer to that second question is, "not YET." :-) WOW. These are just fantastic!

Really excellent.

I finally got the Season 3 DVDs, so I've started the whole series again to refresh my memory with all the little things dropped during the show's run.

Can someone explain all the revelations we got last night to me?
Explain is simply like I'm 10 years old because I watched it twice and I'm still confused.
Maybe a nice timeline of events?
Who built who and when and then what happened type of thing.....

I'm still somewhat in the dark, but it seems to me that final 5 Cylons are (or were) human, which makes all the humans somewhat Cylon.

I think.

But I'm totally confused about Daniel now.

After watching it twice, here's how I understand it:

Thousands of years ago, the 13th tribe were Cylons. These Cylons could procreate. The final five were children of Cylon parents.

Together, the Five rediscovered resurrection. Somehow, they knew of the impending Apocalypse and were prepared to resurrect. All of the other Cylons on Earth died. The Five resurrected onboard an orbiting ship and set off toward the Colonies, but at sublight speeds, it took thousands of years to make the journey.

On the way, they stopped at the algae planet and visited the Temple of Jupiter (or as Ellen called it, the Temple of Hopes.) It's still not clear to me how D'Anna saw them there.

Once the Five reached the Cylons, they discovered there was another war going on with Humans, and the Cylons were experimenting with biologic life forms. The Five convinced the Cylons to stop the war in exchange for assistance with experimentation.

The Five created the Cylon humanoids, and Cavill (John) was the first. Cavill had alot of issues with his heritage, manifested as jealousy and rage, hatred of himself and a need for revenge against the humans. The Five created eight models, and #7 was called Daniel. Cavill hated Daniel and was able to destroy him; now no Daniel copies exist.

My questions:

1) How did the five know that the Earth was about to be destroyed? Was the 13th tribe a victim of genocide, enacted by humans?

2) What's the significance of Daniel? Was it just a mere coincidence that Anders had his seizure just as we learned of 8 Cylon models?

3) How does Kara fit in?

4) How does Hera fit in?

The final 5 were skinjobs on Earth. They (earth cylons) were the first skinjobs, and apparently lived in peace with humans. But the centurions got pissed off and nuked Earth, taking out all but the 5 researchers who had perfected organic memory transfer, resurrection itself falling out of vogue as the skinjobs could procreate. So the five take off back to Cobol, traveling at sub-light speed to warn the colonies not to piss off the cylons. But they were too late. The war had already started. So they told the centurions they'd show them how to make skinjobs if they called a ceasefire. During this ceasefire, the 'final' five made the 'first' eight. But Cavil/John was screwed up, killed Daniel and messed up the entire 7 line. Then he suffocated the 5 and had them resurrected with false memories, "like a Boomer," just to make them suffer with the humans when he wiped them out.

I think

I think it was just luck, DLB. They just happened to be working on an advanced kind of resurrection (If I had to guess, I'd say the difference was between the instantaneous transfer rather than 'burning a copy' they had on file) when the nukes hit.

I'm not sure about Daniel, but I have to think he's more than just a demonstration of how screwed up 'John' was. He's probably kicking around somewhere, but I'd be very surprised if he was in the fleet.

How's this:

-Humans on Kobol made cylons. The cylons could resurrect.

-3,000 years ago, the tribes left Kobol. The 13th Tribe was made of humans and cylons. They built the Temple of Hopes on the way to Earth.

-After reaching Earth: "We didn't invent resurrection. Okay? We reinvented it. Organic Memory Transfer came from Kobol along with the 13th Tribe. It fell out of use after our people started to procreate."

-The humans were bad to the cylons, and a war started. 2,000 years ago, the Five learned that some serious nukes were going to go off. They had a Resurrection ship ready in orbit. They left Earth to warn the humans of the other 12 tribes to be good to their artificial life - "We knew they would continue to create artificial life." - so another war wouldn't start. They backtracked the 13th Tribe's path, finding the Temple of Hopes again. But they didn't do anything with it. Ellen thinks the one, true God put their images there that D'anna saw.

-40 years ago, war broke out between the artificial life the 12 Colonies created - the Centurians - and their creators. The Centurians started making organic cylons, which were the Hybrids. The Centurians somehow got the idea of one, true God. The Five made their deal with the Centurians, and the war ended.

Now that I think of it, I think I know who Daniel is/was.
Spoiler
Daniel was Kara's father. That explains her art and how she knew things - passed on. Probably why her mom's so messed up. She came back because she's part cylon and her dad set something up.
And it looks like that's a strong theory running around the BSG boards.
