:::sorry for the quadruple post:::

SEC! SEC! SEC!!

So...do we get an OSU/Michigan rematch, or do the Gators have a chance of playing in another National Championship game?

Truthfully, while I'm a diehard Gator fan, I can't believe we are seriously in contention to play for the National Championship. Not the way we've played most of our games. We generally never showed up to play until halfway through the second quarter for most of our games, IMO. If we do go over MU, I am nearly positive OSU will kick our butts big time.

:::but I never said that, ya hear?::: ;)

Congrats, Menolly!

Personally I think Florida has every right to play for the National Championship, based on strength of schedule and also the fact that Ohio State has beaten Michigan once this year already.

Well, yeah. But if we use the fact thtat it would be an OSU/MU rematch as a reason why the Gators should go, then it calls into question Florida's only national football championship to date since that was a rematch against FSU, who had beaten us just a month before during the regular season that year.

(for those of you not following college football #2 USC was upset by UCLA thus opening the door for Mich or Fla to play Ohio state for the Nat'l Championship  ) OOO crappy, but scrappy, NM 6-6 plays San Jose St. 7-6 in the New Mexico Bowl (that we jokingly call the Chili Bowl) sometime before Xmas--it'll be silly, but I may just go...

Damm Rutgers lost to West Va.! :-x

With all due respect to your fandom, Menolly, the better physical match-up, and more compelling from a storyline standpoint would have been OSU vs. Michigan.

The resultant drubbing will only serve to underscore the need for a real playoff system in the BCS. Michigan got jobbed because they were off for the last 2 weeks AND the fact that FL is larger market. The advertizers win, but fans of a pure college championship lose (again!).

Bear in mind I'm a Bucky guy, so I have no alliance to MI whatsoever. Part of me giggles to consider a Wolverine fan's dismay.

I'm happy for you though, M.

No argument from me, nor Florida's head coach, Urban Meyer. He's been talking about going play off system for at least three years now.

I think it will be a great game. I don't see a blowout happening.

I disagree, Guns. Florida deserves this shot at the championship much more than Michigan. Florida played 1 extra game (a conference championship) and beat a good Arkansas team.

OK all, the radio station I listen to is having a contest for a trip to the National Championship Game, including airfare on a charter plane and hotel accomodations from Saturday night until Tuesday.

To enter, I have to make a 30 second video showing why I or Paul are the ultimate Gator fan, put it on YouTube, and upload it to the radio station's website.

First, I have to overcome the obstacle of a lack of owning a video camera or a web cam...

Once I overcome that, the next obstacle is that I have absolutely no imagination for this type of thing. Anybody willing to put together a script for me?

The idea of proclaiming oneself to be a Gator fan is so abhorrent to me.....

;)

Seriously, I'm no help, I lack creativity for this sort of stuff.

I am so damn happy that Bama hired a coach,I am so tired of hearing about it.Go LSU!Go Gators! But most of all WARDAMNEAGLE!

I hope he does better for 'Bama than he did for the Dolphins. He's certainly getting paid enough.

Paul and I decided that we're going to go to the O'Connell Center (where we watched the Men's Basketball team win the National Championship on the big screen) to watch the game on the big screen Monday night. We'll miss out on the bar-be-cue that's being done in the Village while they show the game on the projection system in the Commons Room, but should we win we'll be right next to University Avenue when it gets shut down again. :)

I passed by the Superdome on the way home from work this evening.

All around the Dome was a sea of purple and gold.

The Irish are in a lot of trouble tonight.

Oh, and kiss my *ss Saban!

Can't believe Saban denied over and over again about the Bama position then ended up taking it after all. I guess every man has his price. Personally, I hope Alabama stays down there in the mediocre level for a few more years.

Saban done the exact same thing before he left LSU to go to Miami. He denied and denied the interest in the job until after the season was over, and then jumped ship to the NFL.

I really think that his track record of moving around every 2 or 3 years will affect his recruiting.

He will soon likely be known as the Larry Brown of football.

Go Ohio State!
Go *shudder* Notre Dame!
