Made from scratch or popped open a tin

I used to love tomato soup and toast .. but my husband has an irrational aversion to red liquidy or goopy foods 😬 so what was once a quick easy stand by .. is now no more.

I make my own sausage rolls .. and he hates tomato sauce .. so .. in fact it was literally banned from the house .. he hates it so much .. and me a Brit 🙄 .. so LOVE tomato sauce with sausage rolls ..

So Id sneak some in with the sausage mix ... and yum .. he loved it and was never the wiser .. still to this day I do this and he has absolutely no clue .. but how good is it??

You gotta be sneaky some times .. especially when dealing with an obstinate child who doesnt want to come to the party .. but once there ;) BINGO ... loves it ;) :P

Also Brit ... love vinegar with my fish and chips .. doh??? He hates the smell of vinegar .. LOL .. so well thats hard to disguise LOL 😂 .. so just eat it anyway .. but have to sit well away from him so he cant smell it .. LOL 😂 ahhh the things we do for love ❤️ ;) 😂

Sooo many sacrifices :haha:

Made from scratch of course. :D

I love tomato sauce. Don't put it on much stuff, but I also cook with it. Always 2 bottles in my house...1 open, and 1 spare. :D

Now there's a name I've not heard in a long, long time. The last on-Watch reference was in 2016 in reference to a long-ago ice cube tray transgression of his. Ick.

Since he had a "perfected" version of the dry cooked green beans dish, I suppose I am honor-bound to attempt and improve on it. Game on.

So what is the gradation of meaning between "ick" and "eww"?

Ick is an absolute dismissal, like flicking away a bug.

Didnt realise dried beans could have varying degrees of yumminess .. I mean I get ick and eww .. but after not bad .. do they incrementally increase their yummibility to perfection?

Not honor bound, IMO. But, if you insist I'll look forward to your attempts.

The name is a little misleading, Sky. These are still fresh, or in Hyperception's case, frozen green beans. But instead of being steamed or boiled, they're sauteed in a skillet or stir fried in a wok, with a light sauce and seasoning added to them.

I don't think the ick or eww applied to the green beans, though. SD was making reference to something Hyperception once did, outside of cooking, per se...

This sounds similar to what Hyperception did, but without the garlic chili paste (we didn't know what it was back then, and Beorn didn't do heat at all) or the mushrooms. I looked at other receipts, and he definitely did not use fresh chilies, mustard greens, or ground pork.

It's correct, though not a common usage nowadays. (Diana Gabaldon uses it in her books.)

Both recipe and receipt come from recipere. Receipt has been in use since Chaucer's time, if not earlier.

(Would you like some gratuitous etymology with that? See, gratuitous--)It's usually best not to get me started on these things.

Haha, yeah, not wrong, just archaic. I believe however that it's still in fairly common usage in the South though. :D

I LOOOOOVVVVEEE being home .. just sad to lose my kid goat the day I got back 🙄 Having home was soooo great. It was lovely to have him even for a short time. And I got to love him up big .. which was nice.
