Yeah, pretty much these days, the only things I'm "liking" are local yarn shops. And some authors.

Speaking of which, suddenly Diana Gabaldon has been turning up in my newsfeed every day with three or four quotes from her books in separate posts. Dunno whether I just wasn't getting them before, or whether she just started doing it, or what....

Ali, since you're here, I left a comment on your FB about being unable to comment on your blogs. SD seems to have the same problem. Advice?

Is it a bad thing if I wanted to click "like" when I saw this...?

Really? I wondered why almost nobody was commenting on the blog...

I had trouble replying to somebody's comment when I was at work awhile back, but it worked fine for me at home. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the heads-up. 8)

julie bought my gnr tickets today! pretty good tickets, first level. my friend sly will be doing the driving. he is married with kids and works as a kroger manager. this is cool because we rarely get to spend any time together.

i met him when we first moved to texas (i'll have to ask julie how long ago) over ten years ago - i worked with him at krogers. the only concert we saw together was collective soul/creed. (an excellent show)

i will be getting only thursdays off at work for awhile - the captain took her 2nd in command out of that position and put him back on shift. it will take at least a month to hire anymore people. and with losing three before they made it to the unit - i am likely looking at ot through the holidays. :)

julie is happy - we may be able to get the kitchen refinished if i can get the hours. (twenty hours at time and a half every week)

do not fear - i will always make time for you guys. lol

Yeah, I'm sure I've said it before, but the people I want to be in contact with...why...I am in contact with them. The rest, meh.

How do I feel today? Like complete crap. Kill me now. I have a bad cold and have to teach Kindergarten. The worst part is that I normally LOVE my job, but "kill me now" pretty much sums up how I feel about it today.

A fellow Gabaldon fan!! Her Outlander books are my #1 guilty pleasure. ;)

I started reading them at the urging of somebody here -- luci or Jenn, I think luci. Anyhow, yeah. I haven't gotten into the Lord John books, but I've read the others. :)

Re the blog, you guys -- it asks me to log in before I post a comment. Is that causing the problem? I think that's to keep the spam down...

Nope, I'm logged in with one of my Google accounts and it lets me get all the way to hitting "post" and then my comment just disappears. Heh, if this is going to get tricky maybe we should move it to pm.

Are the comments on the blog moderated before they appear? Maybe ali needs to go to an administrator page and approve the poster or comment before it shows up? I know some of the couponing blogs I follow have comments set up that way.

I, too, was logged in with a Google ID when I posted a comment which vanished as though it had never existed.

Someday, I will learn to write offline, then copy-and-paste to new sites. By doing so, I can avoid having my only version of a carefully considered composition disappear.

Or maybe some greater power is using this happenstance to protect all of you from my blithering -- in which case you are all wondering why the Watch doesn't lose more of my posts...

Sorus made me laugh until I squirted tears AGAIN today. I came back from helping a customer and Sorus was cutting out "Last One Clearance" tags and I was in a silly mood so I asked her, "Are you putting Derek's brain cell on clearance?" She didn't miss a beat and responded with, "You know we can't sell the penny items." Ah Sorus, your amazing quick wit is such a joy to be around.

To explain penny items, when stuff is discontinued for not selling or because it was a seasonal item, it gets put on clearance status for a specific amount of time in which the pricing drops lower and lower if it doesn't sell. At some point they give up and the status drops to donation only, but to keep track of the actual inventory it remains in the system priced at one penny until it is pulled and donated. Thus the expression penny items.

On other funny notes. I was in the bathroom today and realized I could see the floor tile through the worn so thin it was almost non existent strip of material along the inside thigh seam of my pants legs on both sides and along the crotch. 8O 8O I spent the rest of the day worrying that people could see my bright turquoise underwear and my pasty pale white girl thighs when I bent over or walked so I kinda walked funny all day and avoided bending over at all by crouching instead. It's actually a bit sad since this pair are my favorite work pants but I guess that's precisely why they are so worn out. Guess I will have to hit Ross for cheap work pants tomorrow before I go in. I have a few pairs but I wanted to get some more anyway. Now I must go work on my dissection...

I thought that was just me being tired and snarky.

As for pants, I'm in the same boat. Ugh. I hate shopping for clothes when I have money, let alone when I don't.

I nearly lost composure when a customer (tourist, heavy accent) asked if we sold Stick-On Crow. This gave me an interesting image, but I had no idea what he was talking about. "Stick-On Crow, Stick-On Crow." (Elaborate and completely unhelpful gestures.)

Turned out he wanted Velcro.

Super-exhausted. Our baby was born Friday, September 30th at 11:44pm. It has been a whirlwind of activity since then, with worry and NICU and blah blah blah and frustration and crazy. But baby is finally home and her and mommy are doing fine now. Now is time to try to relax at home and try to reclaim some sense of normalicy. I'll probably be out for another week after saying that.

Hee hee!
