At last I have clarity
It took a while, it took a long time
But now I can see
I learned to let go
It was the hardest lesson of all
But I gave you my love
In silence
Silence
There would come a time
In my life
When I'd face what was real
I turned a blind eye
I'd feed the lie
Too afraid to come clean
But I learned to let go
Although you would never know
That I gave you my love
In silence
Silence
Silence
Silence
But I learned to let go
It was the hardest lesson of all
Didn't you ever know?
I gave you my all
In silence
Silence

I wasn't aware of this artist Sea. Great song and liked what I heard of the album, Strip, so picked up the whole thing. Why hasn't she put out anything else since 2003?

She's great eh. A local artist (well from my state). I still haven't got around to seeing her live.
She's done an EP since "Strip" called "The meaning in Sunnyville" but it's not on a commercial label (I actually think it's produced and marketed by her as when I bought both albums they came to me signed by her, and the handwriting on the package was hers).
You can go to www.myspace.com/selenacross to hear her more recent stuff.

I'm Eskimo Joe-ing today while I work. Love these guys!
And here's an apt song for me at the moment:
Drag me by my ankles
To the bottom of the ocean
There I'll stay forever
Until you come back from England
the London Bombs
the London Bombs
the London Bombs
the London Bombs
I stay up forever
And try to call your number
But you are lost forever
In the early days of winter
the London Bombs
the London Bombs
the London Bombs
the London Bombs
Dirty little town on the Thames is calling you away, oh
I stay up forever
And try to find the answer
In the sun, i wait for you
the London Bombs
the London Bombs
the London Bombs
the London Bombs
Dirty little town on the Thames is calling you away
Dirty little town on the Thames is calling you away , oh
the London Bombs, oh
the London Bombs
the London Bombs

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
Beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth
I have to go, I have to go
Your hair was long when we first met
Samson went back to bed
Not much hair left on his head
He ate a slice of wonder bread and went right back to bed
And history books forgot about us and the bible didn't mention us
And the bible didn't mention us, not even once
You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
Beneath the stars came fallin' on our heads
But they're just old light, they're just old light
Your hair was long when we first met
Samson came to my bed
Told me that my hair was red
Told me I was beautiful and came into my bed
Oh I cut his hair myself one night
A pair of dull scissors in the yellow light
And he told me that I'd done alright
And kissed me 'til the mornin' light, the mornin' light
And he kissed me 'til the mornin' light
Samson went back to bed
Not much hair left on his head
Ate a slice of wonderbread and went right back to bed
Oh, we couldn't bring the columns down
Yeah we couldn't destroy a single one
And history books forgot about us
And the bible didn't mention us, not even once
You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first
I loved you first, I loved you first
Beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth

And the moment of clarity
Faded like charity does
Sometimes
I open one eye
And I put out my hand just to touch your soft hair
To make sure in the darkness that you were still there
And I have to admit
I was just a little afraid
Yeah
But then...
I had a little bit of luck
You were awake
I couldn't take another moment alone
And the moment of clarity
Faded like charity does

Pete Yorn - "Undercover"
Say the talk, and I won't mind
The days are caused, you know I never try
And I love you like the one I used to know
And if you never had the time
To ask an ordinary problem
And I said I'd like to have a place to go
And you held, and you try
I could never find another
If you walk me to the car park, I won't go
To I live this all time
Flashing for that sees me saw you
I could love you like a sister,
But never have
Drawing circles in your concrete
I will know your every move
And I'll send ya, I'll send ya
And you live, and you try
I could never find another
If you walk me to the car park, I won't go
And we live, and we try
It was hard on us between us
I will love you, I won't let go
We are one inside these walls, undercover
We are one inside these walls, undercover

Walk me out by the water's edge
Oh, my brother
I'm coming down
We are young
We are almost there
And the man keeps coming 'round
I don't know who was right
Or what they saw in you that night
But here we are under moonlight
Words...cannot describe
Walk me out in the morning sun
Oh, sweet momma
I'm coming down
We are young
We are almost there
And the man keeps coming 'round
And I don't know who was right
Or what they saw in you that night
Here we are under moonlight
Words cannot describe
It's clear to me
You're like
The oceans and the light
Try and you'll remember what you used to be
It's clear to me this day will take you for a ride
A place that you once longed to be
And there it is...

You can call me a sinner
Or you can call me a saint
Celebrate me for who I am
Dislike me for what I ain't
Put me up on a pedestal
Or drag me down in the dirt
Sticks and stones will break my bones
But your names will never hurt
I'll be the garden, you'll be the snake
All of my fruit is yours to take
Better the devil that you know
Your love for me will grow
Because
This is who I am
You can like it or not
You can love me or leave me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop
No no
you know
Cleopatra had her way
Matahari too
Whether they were good or bad
Is strictly up to you
Life is a paradox
And it doesn't make much sense
Can't have the "femme" without the "fatale"
Please don't take offense
Don't let the fruit rot under the vine
Fill up your cup and let's drink the wine

The Brian Ferry version is really good.
Cole Porter's - These Foolish Things ( Remind Me Of You)
A cigarette that bears a lipstick's traces
An airline ticket to romantic places
And still my heart has wings
These foolish things remind me of you
A tinkling piano in the next apartment
Those stumblin' words that told you what my heart meant
A fairground's painted swings
These foolish things remind me of you
You came, you saw, you conquered me
When you did that to me
I somehow knew that this had to be
The winds of March that make my heart a dancer
A telephone that rings but who's to answer?
Oh, how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things remind me of you
Gardinia perfume lingering on a pillow
Wild strawberrys only seven francs a kilo
And still my heart has wings
These foolish things, remind me of you
I know that this, was bound to be
These things have haunted me
For you've entirely enchanted me
The sigh of midnight trains in empty stations
Silk stockings thrown aside, dance invitations
Oh, how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things remind me of you
The smile of Garbo and the scent of roses
The waiter's whistling as the last bar closes
The song that Crosby sings
These foolish things, remind me of you
How strange, how sweet, to find you still
These things are dear to me
That seem to bring you so near to me
The scent of smouldering leaves, the wail of steamers
Two lovers on the street, that walk like dreamers
Oh, how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things, remind me of you.

I love Ferry's version as well, Krazy Kat. Funny you should say that; I saw a jazz show last night and they played "You Go To My Head." I immediately thought of Bryan Ferry's version of that as well.

A diamond necklace played the pawn
Hand in hand some drummed along, oh
To a handsome man and baton
A blind class aristocracy
Back through the op'ra glass you see
The pit and the pendulum drawn
Columnated ruins domino
Canvass the town and brush the backdrop
Are you sleeping?
Hung velvet overtaken me
Dim chandelier awaken me
To a song dissolved in the dawn
The music hall a costly bow
The music all is lost for now
To a muted trumperter swan
Columnated ruins domino
Canvass the town and brush the backdrop
Are you sleeping, Brother John?
Dove nested towers the hour was
Strike the street quicksilver moon
Carriage across the fog
Two-Step to lamplight cellar tune
The laughs come hard in Auld Lang Syne
The glass was raised, the fired rose
The fullness of the wine, the dim last toasting
While at port, adieu or die
A choke of grief HEART hardened I
Beyond belief a broken man too tough to cry
Surf's Up
Aboard a tidal wave
Come about hard and join
The young and often spring you gave
I heard the word
Wonderful thing
A children's song
Child, child, child, child, child
A child is the father of the man
Child, child, child, child, child
A child is the father of the man
A children's song
Have you listened as they played
Their song is love
And the children know the way
That's why the child is the father to the man

It was raining hard in 'Frisco,
I needed one more fare to make my night.
A lady up ahead waved to flag me down,
She got in at the light.
Oh, where you going to, my lady blue,
It's a shame you ruined your gown in the rain.
She just looked out the window, and said
"Sixteen Parkside Lane".
Something about her was familiar
I could swear I'd seen her face before,
But she said, "I'm sure you're mistaken"
And she didn't say anything more.
It took a while, but she looked in the mirror,
And she glanced at the license for my name.
A smile seemed to come to her slowly,
It was a sad smile, just the same.
And she said, "How are you Harry?"
I said, "How are you Sue?
Through the too many miles
and the too little smiles
I still remember you."
It was somewhere in a fairy tale,
I used to take her home in my car.
We learned about love in the back of the Dodge,
The lesson hadn't gone too far.
You see, she was gonna be an actress,
And I was gonna learn to fly.
She took off to find the footlights,
And I took off to find the sky.
Oh, I've got something inside me,
To drive a princess blind.
There's a wild man, wizard,
He's hiding in me, illuminating my mind.
Oh, I've got something inside me,
Not what my life's about,
Cause I've been letting my outside tide me,
Over 'till my time, runs out.
Baby's so high that she's skying,
Yes she's flying, afraid to fall.
I'll tell you why baby's crying,
Cause she's dying, aren't we all.
There was not much more for us to talk about,
Whatever we had once was gone.
So I turned my cab into the driveway,
Past the gate and the fine trimmed lawns.
And she said we must get together,
But I knew it'd never be arranged.
And she handed me twenty dollars,
For a two fifty fare, she said
"Harry, keep the change."
Well another man might have been angry,
And another man might have been hurt,
But another man never would have let her go...
I stashed the bill in my shirt.
And she walked away in silence,
It's strange, how you never know,
But we'd both gotten what we'd asked for,
Such a long, long time ago.
You see, she was gonna be an actress
And I was gonna learn to fly.
She took off to find the footlights,
And I took off for the sky.
And here, she's acting happy,
Inside her handsome home.
And me, I'm flying in my taxi,
Taking tips, and getting stoned,
I go flying so high, when I'm stoned.
I needed one more fare to make my night.
A lady up ahead waved to flag me down,

"Mah Nà Mah Nà" is a popular song written by Piero Umiliani. It originally appeared in the Italian film Sweden: Heaven and Hell, but is best known in English-speaking countries from its use in the first episode of The Muppet Show.
"Mah Nà Mah Nà" debuted as part of Umiliani's soundtrack for the Italian mondo film Svezia, inferno e paradiso (Sweden: Heaven and Hell) (1968), a pseudo-documentary about wild sexual activity and other behavior in Sweden

I used to be a huge PF and Roger Waters fan, that takes me back!sgt.null wrote:roger waters
And the moment of clarity
Faded like charity does
Sometimes
I open one eye
And I put out my hand just to touch your soft hair
To make sure in the darkness that you were still there
And I have to admit
I was just a little afraid
Yeah
But then...
I had a little bit of luck
You were awake
I couldn't take another moment alone
Just discovered this forum, so sorry in advance if what I write is already here - one verse from Eels has been sticking in my head recently - reminds me of my reaction upon hearing of my father's death 7 years ago (anniversary is looming, so naturally it's sticking in my head...):
Do you know what it's like
to fall on the floor
Cry your guts out 'til you've got no more
Hey man, now you're really living!
