Oh yes...good ol' WOW. I have a level 84 and a level 76 on there, Ive gotten rather bored with it recently though, hard to explain really, I tend to play for a while then quit, then play for a while and quit et cetera et cetera.

If I'm not on at raid start, that means my power's still out. Will log in as soon as I can.

When someone in guild has that cleared or if you go on one of the runs sorus get it then. We were going to let you come in the night we had it cleared but you had already logged.

Was easy once I stacked some haste - but thanks for the offer!
Now I just need
Pogeyan, then I will have all of what Petopia calls the 'gem-skinned' cats. SO not in the mood for rare camping, though he's supposed to spawn every 3-6 hours, which isn't bad compared to some.

Can't get to the guild site on this comp:
Cho'Gall
I've been reading up on other people's experiences to try and get an idea of how best to handle this fight, considering where we've been having trouble in our attempts.
The main thing is, tanking Cho'Gall around the middle and dropping adds by the stairs is pretty much the standard strategy for the fight, so we have that right. We could stand to move Cho'Gall further back, which I'll get into later.
1) GROUP UP! One of out biggest problems is ranged and healers being scattered around the room when a Conversion happens. It is key to this fight that all Worshipping is interrupted immediately.
My suggestion: Make use of the tools Blizzard has given us. Drop a raid marker on a spot at the edge of the inner circle, and tell everyone, including ranged, to stay within 10 yards of the great big glowy marker. If a fire patch or shadow crash happens, it's simple enough to move over to a side without getting spread out.
Picking up adherents can be done easily without much movement - they will run to the group. Picking adds up on top of Cho'gall then moving in a straight line to the stairs minimises movement time for melee dps and reduces how much people need to spread out.
2) BLOODS DON'T FOLLOW THREAT! Blood of the Old Gods spawn with a randomly selected target and a high amount of threat. They cannot be taunted. This means Misdirect is useless.
It also means the only way to keep the adds together is for the raid group to stand together. Keeping the group in a tight area along the line between stairs and boss will mean the adds move in a tight group along that line.
I suggest moving Cho'gall closer to the stairs. Tank him in a place where ranged dps can turn and AoE adds without moving. This means about 40-50 yards from the top of the stairs.
The result of these small changes: MCed players are all within a small area. All players are within healing range without healers moving. All ranged dps can be done without moving, and melee should only need to move for the first 50-60% of the Adherent. All adds move toward the same area. All dps have better time on boss and less time switching.
3) HUNTERS, SPEC ENTRAPMENT A one-second stun when your traps trigger wil make a world of difference on this fight. One second of adds not moving is one second of free damage. If I was Elemental I'd take Earth's Grasp for this fight, alas... I will start dropping Earthbind where it'll be useful, though.
4) Repeatedly, users on Maintankadin report switching to 2 healers and 6 dps drastically improves their chances at defeating this boss. It is not absolute, but is worth considering. 2 healers means an easier phase 1 (including faster aoe phases), but a more dangerous phase 2. The most common reason for difficulty healing p1 is AoE shadowbolts from people with high Corruption. All Corruption in phase 1 is avoidable. The two healer strat is mostly effective when you can replace the third healer with a ranged dps.
NOTE: This is all for phase 1. Phase 2 strat is as follows: Pull Cho'Gall somewhere near a wall, this limits tentacle spawns to a smaller area. All dps focus on tentacles, no exceptions. Whichever tank is not on Cho'Gall will also help kill tentacles. Interrupts, silences, and stuns must be used as much as possible to stop the tentacle -75% damage and healing beam. The tentacles should die very quickly when their beam is not active on dps.

good stuff murrin. thanks.
not a prob to take 2pts out of sic em and put em on entrapment!
also, this makes soooo much more sense now that i know that
MD does not work on those things. i didn't think it was working
but was so busy trying to get away from the one that was
targeting me...out of all those attempts on that boss i was only
NOT targeted by a slime maybe once or twice. urg.

13 pulls of Cho'gall. Don't have time to look into it right now, but things to look for: Go into Dashboard > Expression editor and enter the following lines (only one at a time):
Code: Select all
spell = 'Corrupting Crash'
spell = 'Depravity'
spell = 'Festering Blood'
sourcename = 'Blood of the Old God'
spell = 'Spilled Blood of the Old God' and amount > 1
spell = 'Blaze'
spell = 'Twisted Devotion'

oh THANKS!! for explaining how to look at that stuff!!
so twisted devotion is what cho'gall gains when we're "worshipped"? yes?
or have i got that wrong?
as for the corrupting crashes...it's clear that we need to move our asses MUCH quicker than we're moving them!!
thanks again murrin.

This just in: In patch 4.2, Paladins, Death Knights, and Warriors will no longer get Dodge chance from Agility. I'm gonna have to get a new ring and trinket...
Also, they're implementing a 20% nerf to the health and damage of almost all tier 11 raid content when the patch goes live. We better hurry up and finish off Al'Akir and Nef.

Is anyone else attending
Proudmoore Pride this year? I'm gonna roll a DK (horde), and go through the starter zone either tomorrow or Monday; just yell if you want to join me. The event starts an hour or so before raid, so we won't be able to stay for the whole thing, but it's great fun and a side of WoW you don't get to see every day.

Interesting Al'akir perspective:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwfoAFxEJqI
Note the part in the middle, where the wind burst and squall lines are observed intelligently and smart movement used to get into the right positions; and note the mistakes pointed out where the choice to run one way rather than the other despite having plenty of time to realise resulted in a death.

www.learntoraid.com/
Firelands raid guides there. Kind of irritating narrators, but it covers all boss abilities and then strategies in each vid.
They seem to currently be missing Rhyolith, Baleroc, and Majordomo Staghelm.
Edit: I recommend changing the youtube vid resolution to 720p or 1080p on these guides, it makes it much, much easier to see what's going on.
Alysrazor actually looks a lot of fun and not that difficult. I'm hoping I get assigned to dps the boss in the air, hehe (I know I'd lose dps from totems, but it's just too fun).

Sorus! I forgot, by the time the weekend rolled around. I wish I would have. Did you? How was it?
