Lazy cold and wet weekend, so much takeaway happened.

Last night was mash and wors with roasted butternut and red pepper, and gravy.

What is "mash and wors"?

Mash as in mashed potato, and wors as in boerewors, (the "w" is pronounced as a "v") which is a local type of sausage basically.

I had to Google that the first time I saw you use it, as my first guess was a species of alien from Star Wars.

Dinner last night was half a 3-minute microwave chocolate cake (The GF makes it...it's actually surprisingly good. We were both dubious as hell when she found the recipe, but pleasantly surprised) and a cup of tea.
Night before that was matzos with butter.
Been tired and too lazy to cook. The GF gives me hell about not eating properly.

That was me earlier in the week. In my defense, I
was going to make matzo brei, but I didn't feel like washing that many dishes on a worknight.

Man. Totally wrong time of year. But matzah brei would go good about now.

I don't really do eggs much. And I definitely don't do scrambled egg type things. (I only eat the yolks, so...)
Anyway, defaulted to steak wraps last night...at least it was a better meal than the previous two nights.

There's a local market here that has a huge display of matzos for every Jewish holiday. (Points for trying?) I'm probably contributing to the problem because I can't see it without thinking of matzo brei, which leads to me buying a box.

Set down the matzah and step away from the carbs, m'am!
On topic, Dam-et and a friend are here for the weekend, and he is a fiend for cheesy carb-laden food. For the occasion, I made a baked ziti with layers of italian meatballs and mushroom ragu, as well as spinach mixed into the cheesy pasta layers.
Since Menolly and I are adhering to a keto diet and Dam-sel is pretty much eating that way at dinners, I also made an eggplant lasagna that used most of the same ingredients, just no pasta and a reduced-carb version of the saucing.
Honestly, the ziti was the superior dish. Looked far better and tasted just marginally better. (I don't work that hard, then not taste the food before service! Just not enough of a cheat to pull me out of hard-won ketosis.)
Dam-et and friend will take the excess ziti back with them.
Back to diet for the three of us...

Ah, thank you for explaining that! My gastronomic vocabulary has been expanded once again, and that can only be a good thing.

No worries.
I had lamb shanks, roast potatoes, and butternut mash yesterday.
The worst part of cooking lamb shanks is the 3 hours you have to smell them cooking before you can eat them.

It was great.

Last night defaulted to wraps again, (they're quick and easy), and treated myself to my red wine and balsamic sauce.

Oriental radish, thinly sliced red pepper, garlic, with finely chopped pei tsai, and noodles.
Dang! I make good noodles.
