Lorin wrote:I had a better day today. Finally starting to climb out of this emotional quagmire I have been in since the robbery. I am still very angry, it all feels so personal. But today I made some progress. I took a walk along a lake, not a big walk, maybe a mile or so and it was very soothing to the nerves. Then, and this is big, I went to the dog park and the people in the dog park convinced me to bring helldog into the park. And for the most part she behaved. I mean she wasn't playful because she was scared but she didn't fight. There were A LOT of dogs there, maybe 30 -40. It was a giant park. And she behaved! There was a lady there that handled dogs really well and gave me advice about socializing the dog. I may actually have to stop calling her helldog and start calling her Mya.
:D Yay! Good to hear you are making progress. And as Linna said, seemingly small things like an unexpectedly well-behaved dog can be really important. 8)

Lorin, so glad you are doing better and yay for helldog. I hope you gave her tons of good praise and so forth for being such a good brave girl. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Hang in there Ms. Mary.

Thanks, ali, looks like it will get worse before it gets better. I swear you couldn't make this stuff up.

But once it's over it's over for good and you never have to go through that again.

Now, that's a situation I'm looking forward to.

Can I just crawl under a rock till it happens? ;)

You have my permission, MsMary. 8)

So I had to coordinate a lunch meeting today for 16 people. Our in-house caterers weren't good enough for my attorney -- we had to order the pizzas and the pies from two separate places. The pies were here in plenty of time, but the pizzas were almost half an hour late. Arrgh. I did get a slice of pizza, at least...

Thanks, ali.

Glad you got some pizza.

Half the day gone and I haven't gotten a fraction of what I'd planned to do on my day off done.

I did, however, stop off on the way back from early voting to get some excellent ice cream to bring home. 8)

No, though we do love that.

We went to a local ice cream maker who makes excellent ice cream, not cheap, but very yummy.

Now I'm getting hungry for it and I haven't had dinner yet.

I am having one of those weeks where everything is just falling apart. Mostly minor things, but an avalanche of them. Crawling under a rock seems like a good idea.

Is there room for me under there with you? I will bring some cozy blankets.

Misery loves company. Bring your own duct tape though, I'm almost out.

I have fixed almost everything (in the category of things that can literally be fixed) with duct tape, a towel, and 5 thumbtacks. MacGyver would be proud of me.

Update: I did, eventually, get pie. In fact, there was a fair amount of pie left, so I sent an e-mail to the secretaries in our department. Numerous people came by to help me finish it off. However, I wish I'd known before they all showed up that I was going to need a FAQ. A bunch of people asked me the same three questions:

Q: Did you bake these?
A: Haha, no.

Q: Where did you get them?
A: Baked & Wired, a bakery in Georgetown.

Q: What was the occasion?
A: Travelin' Guy sent an e-mail to his team that made reference to a pie fight or pie contest or something, and somebody on the team insisted that they have a pie-themed lunch.

It was an unusual day at work today. Obama was staying at the hotel directly across the street from our store so the street was blocked off for periods of time during the day. The most exciting bit however was when a man carrying a hand gun ran hell bent past the store and down the alley and Caitlin saw him being brought down by the police. Now apparently there are civil disturbances in downtown Oakland that have the two main BART stations closed. Need to go find out what's going on there.

Oh and yay for the pie, Ali. yay for the ice cream, Ms. Mary. I have a partial pint of schweddy balls and a partial pint of mudslide both from ben and jerry's in the freezer. I asked my local guys to get the rep to put some schweddy balls in and they did. I love those guys.

Sorus, Lorin, I'm sorry things are sucking for both of you. Sorus, like I said, I'll have your back at work concerning the sale and I'll do any price changes that come through as well. I did a bunch of that stuff at Berkeley and Emeryville.

I'm also taking suggestions for cakes flavors. We have three associate birthdays this week so I was going to make two different sheet cakes to celebrate. In my blather blog the suggestions have been chocolate, cherry and pumpkin. I'm still not decided so I'm taking suggestions.

Ok, just googled and apparently the police had an ugly run in with the Occupy Oakland group.

Blah. Life is super insane lately. Still trying to get unpacked completely and into the groove of a normal family life. The washer and dryer has been broken (it was supposed to be installed when we moved in). It's a factory defect, so of course they had to order a part for it. That was two weeks ago. Hopefully this week it'll get fixed. I'm dying without it, man.

Work has been supremely stressful lately. I had to switch to all overnight shifts, which isn't too terrible. A little lost sleep, and I get a paycheck. But at one of my client's house some creepy dude tried to lure one of the other caregivers by telling her there was a dead puppy down the street and would you come look at it. The police say they can't do anything. Meanwhile, I'm going insane with my already constant state of paranoia. I don't sleep a wink when I'm there, now.

My son's birthday is in two weeks and I AM NOT PREPARED. For his party or for him turning 5 years old. Man, I'm so old now.

Ok, I know double posting but I was checking my bank balance and I had taken out $100 bucks on Saturday from one of those store atm's which I KNOW I should not use. The charge/withdrawal has still not shown up. Money I've spent after has shown but nothing from that atm. Should I be worried?

Sheesh, is it quiet in here? Changing seasons? Usually you all disappear in your spring...
