I still like learning how to admin a phpBB based forum, even if my decisions are criticised by those outside of the Sunrise Court. I have yet to hear a cristicism within the Sunrise Court, although I have been awaiting them.
Well, that's between you and the court. Doesn't mean my point isn't valid, though. And don't you think that puts a little pressure on the other members of the court to elect you as master of the court, or maybe defer to your judgment on issues? Not that that would swing things by themselves, but... I can easily see that leading to conflicts of interest, especially when the interests of you or your court may change. I'm not saying you would, but what if you decided to take your ball and go home? With something like an alliance, that's a risk you can take, as alliances are easy enough to dissolve. But when it's an actual part of the game...

All I'm saying is think about it.

I am sincerly sorry, Creator.
I missed it so no offense taken and no apology necessary. I was rushing out of my hotel room - I certainly share in the blame for the confusion as I understand our posts crossed. I should have checked my posted comments before I rushed out.

I appreciate your sensitivity, Lore! Thank you.

Since this whole broo-ha-ha about the Court forums started, I've done nothing but. Fortunately I have no interest in being Master *shudder* And some members of my Court have already persuaded my point of view regarding certain matters. Power plays and politics is definitely not my scene. I have also already added a second admin to the site several days ago, so although the site is registered to my ID, I am not the sole admin there. And I have no problem with leaving the Court forum up and running, even if I should leave or be asked to leave the Court.

I do not know as forum owner if I could be banned from the forum, but I would give my word to not visit it, unless asked for admin purposes, should that happen.

Pardon me for saying so myself, but I just don't see me doing such things as you suggest. I have already tried to be underhanded, and we all know how well that didn't work. I won't try it again.

That is not to say your concerns aren't valid if someone else had started the forum. But...as self promoting as it sounds, I don't see it happening in this situation. And yes, if it does, call me on it.

A few things in no particular order.

I wouldn't be calling you on it, since I'm not in either court, nor will I ever be. But if I were, it would already be too late at that point. For instance, from what I've gathered, you already made a unilateral decision to allow Xar access. Now, that may have been the right thing to do, but it wasn't exactly reached by consensus, not beforehand, and now the cat's out of the bag. If anyone did disagree with you, they'd only look foolish at this point for saying so (that's the great thing about being neutral. this is all theoretical for me).

And do you think anybody would see themselves doing that? Don't you think anyone else would say the exact same thing in your place? It doesn't mean you won't, only that you think you wouldn't. It certainly doesn't mean you can't. And that's what I'm talking about. It's an inherent flaw of any player having that kind of control of a strictly in-game function. That's why I think a formal court forum should be under the control of the GM.

Informal, that's a different matter and one the courts would have to weigh the pros and cons of. And apparently, they've already done so. Personally, I'd be wary of giving any other player any more of an advantage than necessary. Of course, that's probably a big reason why I didn't join either court.

I've been yelled at often, cyber and rl, for trying to explain myself too clearly. Really, it's a thing with me. But I'll not do it this time.

Ironically, as I told them at Sunset before my first post here about your access, I don't intend to be involved with the Court much anyway.

Xar, your posts in many forums have always been beyond top-notch in humor, patience, and information. You've also answered lots of my questions about DNA, which I've appreciated. But of far more importance than anything else is that you trusted me with a personal matter.

I'm trying to demonstrate that nothing I've said in my last few posts is remotely the result of any problem I have with the man named Xar. (Heh. I don't know if you post your actual name, so I won't.) You've been among the best parts of my 4 years, 10 months, and 29 days at the Watch.

As for the game, nobody appreciates your time, energy, enthusiasm, and imagination more than I do. I've been rather heavily into the Pantheon games for 19 months now, and I know what I've put into it is not a drop in the bucket compared to what you've put into it.

If you're not too pissed at me, I'd still Love to play.

*has to remember to not get into a debate with either of the 'tank mods*

I'll concede your points.

But so far, as far as I know, they have been a non-issue in Sunrise. I hope the members there are comfortable enough to call me on such if they disagree. If not, then the only way I'll find out will be through use of the forum anyway. We'll see what happens.

In the meantime, we're still debating how we wish to choose a Master, and what jusitfies access to the Divine Right. Fun, fun, fun...not.

Creator...awesome post thank you. I totally agree. Especially this bit:
Creator wrote:I don't have a problem with private forums ... but if their presence seriously bothers Xar - that in and of itself is enough for me to let him have access.
I'm glad to see people taking a step back. I was a bit worried for a while there.

19 months huh? Damn. Anyway, like we all do, I love this game. It's the best RPG I've ever played and probably the best I ever will play. And like everybody else, my appreciation for Xar knows no bounds.

I believe we have every right to surprise the GM sometimes. Perhaps even a duty to. But if Xar wanted to be copied on every PM and that was the rule, I'd still play, and so would anybody else in this discussion probably.

And it never occurred to me that Xar would feel he was missing out on I/C playing. :D Never once. *shakes head* Although a private pantheon forum looks a lot more like the comments thread than the game thread. Keeping in character is too much effort except when its in public.
Murrin wrote:Well, that's not entirely true--there was a forum used during the current game, where a group of players talked outside of the knowledge of the GM and other players.
Now how do you know that? And since everybody seems intent on letting cats out of bags this week, just by the way, there was a private forum used during the first game too. (With no ill effects.) So there. :P

Anyway, I totally support Syls suggestion of upgrading Gravin Threndor. Brilliant idea. And agree with basically everything else he said too. :D Let's chill out, take deep breaths, and, as Creator said, get back to having some fun.

Well, in any case we voted to let you in. :P

I say we all move on now, eh? :D

I can deal.

Xar, I'll PM you the details.

Now that I have had time to put all my thoughts in place, I would like to say that I had forgotten the basic principle for all games; they're fun. I do not want to put my own wants for a secret forum over anyone's fun in the game, and it seemed that was what was happening. So I hope we're back to having fun, cause that's where I want us all to be.

Fun, however, is relative; what may be fun for one, may not be fun for others.

Nevertheless, I appreciate the vote of confidence, and I'd like to make sure everyone understands that I'm certainly not going to punish anybody for what happened, or for disagreeing with me. That's your right, after all. So, Fist, Luci... no harm done :)

All of it :) I had to take a few pit stops to stop my head from exploding though :)

And as someone said: Go forth and have fun dammit !! :)
