It's been over 10 for me, close to 15 years. I'll be 27 this year, and I first read the Chronicles when I was 12.

Then there was the wait between the Gap books. I was was in agony between A Dark and Hungry God Arises and Chaos and Order.

Same here. It's such a monumental event for long-time fans like Furls and me (and Byrn, I'm sure!). Of course, I wasn't spending time consciously waiting for a third Chronicles all those years. I had figured White Gold Wielder was the end of the story.

Yep, its been a couple of decades for this old gray haired lady, too. I started hearing rumors of a Third Chronicles at Amazon long before Danlo found me and brought me here...I was overjoyed to hear the rumors confirmed. :D :D :D

Oh, I always knew that wasn't the end, how could it be??? Way too many doors left open and so many unanswered questions.

I was just musing to myself as I read another thread, how a few people now in their teens are reading the Chrons for the first time, and I found myself going back to when I first picked up LFB when I was about 15 and being just completely awestruck by it. I hope that all you new people to the books, who have just read them for the first time, felt that same thunderstruck awe I did 20 some years ago. And as you re-read them over and over again, may you always find something new, the way I always do. :)

And Duchy..I love the new av!! way way cool!! :D :D

oooh yeah .. i second the av compliment!!! awesomely done duchess!! that av is breath-taking <bigger even moreso>

Like you FURLS i knew it couldnt be the end .. too much possibility had been lain at our feet ..

LA being told TC would "always be with" her .. the fact that the dead do not remain so in the Land .. the fact that the mortal expired have an immortal existence and association with other immortals .. like our beloved Foamy .. Mhoram .. Bannor and Co.

oh yeah too awesome to be the end .. I searched for more after WGW .. and didnt find all that i hoped for .. but I found the Watch .. a newly created site by our imminent High Lord Jay .. just in time to succor my needy soul with a taste of more!!

The future of the Land was here .. and now the realisation of all our hopes in the 3rd chrons!! at last!!

oh joy!!

be welcome and true byrn landslide and haruchai!!

welcome home!!! ;)

I actually inheited my First and Second Chronicles from my brother when he passed away in 1995, and read them the same year. Also got the First GAP book, and proceeded to buy the remaining Gap Novels thereafter. So I was fortunate enough not to have to wait for any of them to be released. I, too, figured the series was at an end when I found there were no more Thomas Covenant Books out. Very exciting to hear about the third Chronicles.

Sorry, to be an idiot, I'm sure some of you have answered this question a thousand times, and I searched but didn't see it. When is the first Book of the Third Chronicles due out? It's set to be a four book series this time, rather than a trilogy, correct?

EDIT: Duh, right at the first post in this thread, it says very late 2004, at the earliest. Any change to that, a more firm date or perhaps pushed back later than that?

not that I'm getting picky or obssessive or excited, or anything like that, but Amazon have the hardcover as out on Oct 21st, pitching in at a hefty 896 pages.

It's been a while but Ham is back.....

Amazon UK has the paperback up for pre-order, with a release date of October, 2005. The hardcover they have listed as "out of print" or "limited availability" and say you can order is "used", which cracked me up. :haha:

They need to fix that. Because right now, the only one up for pre-order on the UK site is the paperback.

Amazon US doesn't even have it listed yet. :?

Welcome back Hamako!! :D :D

b 'n' b - you're too kind....

Unfortunately I keep getting distracted by work, an annoying but necessary diversion which coincidentally happens to pay the mortgage. The ever contradictory challenge of life eh? I have also been diverted away from the Covenant path by the Hyperion quadrilogy - nearly finished the last book, damn fine..

This is however the best and most communal forum I've ever used, seconded only be the Telecaster Forum, but that is an entirely different story..... 8)

and another point - since when have I been Darth Revans Servant????? 8O .

I dunno, chap takes a break for a while and ends up with this moniker!

What's happened to Juan Valdez? That's got to be worth a thread on it's own!
