Was at the grocery store today and this woman dropped a $50 bill without realizing it. I pointed it out to her, and she didn't even seem that thankful. Jeez.

I'm not sure if that should go here, or in the Pet Peeves thread.

Also, I gave directions to a lady at the gas station.

I found $8 with a grocery store receipt (with one $2 item listed on the receipt) in a parking lot on campus along the route I normally take to get from that grocery store to the dorms, and I turned it in to lost and found in the dorms. There were people hanging around near the desk where the lost and found is, so I bet the student worker didn't pocket it either. I hope whoever lost it thought to check the lost and found for it. $8 is a lot of money to a college student.

I gave my housemate a cream-filled strawberry lace to make him feel better about being rejected by the girl he pines for.

I also made a point of phrasing things in such a way that perfectly innocuous comments aggravate one of my other housemates. I know this makes me a git, but she's been annoying everyone she knows lately.

So that makes your balance zero? :D

I'm going to brag on Malik. Today, we had neighbors move in next door and the guy was struggling with is 13 y.o. son to move his sofa. Malik offered and helped him get it into the house.

He was just afraid that if he didn't help one day he'd come home and the the couch would be embedded into the side of your house.

The other night, I went out for my housemate's birthday (urgh) and spent the whole evening sidling up behind one of his other friends (who I didn't already know) and whispering "You smell" and "I hate you" then pretending to be doing something else. It amused me, and she didn't seem to mind. In fact, everyone thought she took a shine to me. It's true what they say about treating women mean. :P

Ive been reading Einstein's latest Biography. Little known facts:

1. In 1939, Charles Lindbergh was approached to take Einstein's letter to the President explaining the German Scientists had been able to show its possible to split an atom, and warned him of the possibility the germans would build one. Lindbergh, who was shown to be a sympathist and somewhat of an anti-semite, ignored the repeated requests. The requests for him to take the letter abruptly ended when Lindbergh made a national announcement that warned Americans to look to thosr that own the News and entertainement industries, and consider their motivations, a thinly veiled reference to the Jewish Americans who were thriving in Media...

2. Einstein had an illegitimate daughter whom he never met, who apparently died of an illness. He later married the Mother and had two sons, one of which ended up in a mental institution for most of his life.

3. Einstein had many affairs.

I'm a little confused how this relates. . . Am I missing something?

 It's a random act of historical enlightenment by iQuestor. I did not know Charles Lindbergh had been approached to take Einstein's letter to the President. It must have deeply rankled Einstein to learn Mr. Lindbergh was a Nazi sympathizer.

I gave $5 to a panhandler.

Today I received a smll act of unhelpfulness from my dentist's receptionist. My dental infection wasn't quite cleared up by the course of antibiotics, so I'll need another course before the extraction. I asked the receptionist if she can send me a prescription because I live 180 miles away. But no. I have to go and see the dentist again so he can say "Yes, your gum is still swollen and painful".

So I've retaliated with my own small act of spite. My appointment next monday is a long one, for the extraction. So instead I'm using that to ask for more antibiotics, which will probably annoy the dental staff, since that will take five minutes rather than the forty I'm scheduled for, which they could have used for something else. It's a small revenge, but all I've got.

Spiteful revenge can be very satisfying at times of dental infection ;)

Small act of First Aid

I did a Small Act of First Aid today. An acquaintance in the dorms at my school was cleaning her room and cut her finger, and I happened to be talking to somebody at the front desk when she came to ask about a first aid kit. I looked at her cut and it was pretty deep and bleeding fast, so I made her put it under more pressure and elevate it to slow down the bleeding. Then I came with her when she went to the urgent care center and helped her fill out all the paperwork, and distracted her so she wouldn't be too nervous in case she needed stitches. She ended up not needing stitches because the pressure and elevation had slowed down the bleeding enough, but she did need a very tightly wrapped bandage. She was glad not to need stitches (she's not too good with needles and blood and such), and was grateful for the help. She also is amused because it was her middle finger, and she still has to keep it elevated and tightly wrapped, so she basically is flipping everybody off for the next few hours. :) I don't much care for blood either, but I'm glad to have helped.

Well done! :) It can be much more difficult assisting someone when blood is involved - I'm not a big fan of blood either. It has in the past made me light-headed on sight (until, of course, the birth of one's child comes into play, and then everything changes :). It was the last thing on my mind... )
