I bought an Belgian singer An Pierle's new(ish) album at lunch today, and I've been listening to the album at work this afternoon. It reminds me a bit of Portishead, her voice has a similar spooky quality to Beth Gibbons'.

Sorry I don't use credit cards on net, but may finally break down an buy a KW t-shirt 4 Elohimfest...Return to Forever & The Rippingtons are very cool, smooth, semi-intense Jazz. Return features such great artists as Chick Corea (keyboards), Stanley Clarke (bass), Al DeMiola (amazing guitar) and Lenny White (one of the best drummers in the business--2nd only to Billy Cobham, imho). The Rippingtons r kinda a cross btween The Pat Metheny Group, Lee Ritenour, The Jeff Lorber Fusion and The Gipsy Kings...good stuff.

I aslo ordered a VERY cool ancient '70s CD by Lindisfarne, an Irish/British folk rock group called The Other Side of Lindisfarne. It contains Run For Home which is 1 of THE most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my life! (Is very jealous of all the New Mexicans who got 2 hear B. B. King with Jeff Beck last nite! :x ) If I can find the lyrics I'll post them in the appropriate thread...

I like the Rippingtons. One of my coworkers is really into them, and started me on them, and now I have several of their CD's... :)
Tonight I am listening to two blues compilation albums I picked up in Chicago. Thr hotel we stayed at was on the same block as a world class blues club called Blue Chicago and I picked up two CD's of artists who have performed at the club from the adjoining store. One is called Clark Steet Ramblers, and features male performers, and the other is called Mojo Mamas and features female performers. :)

I've been listening to Bridge Over Troubled Waters, by Simon and Garfunkel. The Boxer is one of my favorite songs.

I've been listening to the Byross: www.byross.tk

He's a friend of mine, trying to get picked up by a label. Of the songs available for download, I particularly recommend My Life Story, Close Your Eyes and Ball of Lies, though they're not his best songs

Just got Manic Street Preachers' B-sides and rarities double album, Lipstick Traces. I'm quite impressed with it. I thought I'd have everything on there, but there are a couple of gems.
Judge Y'rself was recorded for the Judge Dredd film (MSP were big 2000AD fans), but wasn't used because Richey disappeared at that time and the producers didn't want to bother the band. It sounds like it could be straight off of The Holy Bible. I only wish that plucked bass riff in the intro was used more.

Tonight we were listening to some band I had never heard of before here at work, Les Nubians, I think they might be from France...or at least they sing in French...

Rock. Their new album's out on the 16th. I just hope the new line-up doesn't degrade their sound. Iha's guitar on their new single sounds a little loose and muddled, imo, and I hope it's not like that throughout.

I haven't heard it, but a friend of mine downloaded it and I think he nearly fainted with delight
