Von Mannstein was a tactical genius. Hitler was the clown who rode on his coat-tails.

The British had a plan to assasinate Hitler in the war but - this is 100% true - chose not to go through with it because they realised that the war was easier for the allies with Hitler in command of the German war machine.
....yeah!

....uh....what he said!

I had the same thought, but didn't want to comment so others could suffer like I did.

Moves submitted.

I have decided to update the Rules and Comments thread with a section about how to submit a turn, and how to read turn results. Please read carefully the former, at least, since it includes a number of tips to streamline and speed up processing speed (in some cases, based on turn submittals sent by a few players).

Cool!! Get rid of moves that don't use DRP's or Treasure Points!!! :D :D :D

Hmm. Non-DRP powered moves are sometimes necessary, eg, sending your prophet somewhere, or making use of an artifact that was created at another time. I don't think it would be right to ban them entirely.

As for the convenient invention of characters: :|
(More seriously, I know I've done stuff in that vein myself before, but I do agree with the sentiment. Though I don't think I've done something quite so blatant as the example given, heh.)

Yes, non-DRP moves are necessary sometimes, but when I receive a turn which includes 3 DRP moves and 12 non-DRP moves, there's something wrong there... especially if the non-DRP moves are not of real importance.

Phew! I haven't done any of the bad things and I write OOC summaries so looks like I get a gold star! :P

Apart from the odd one here and there, I think mine are usually responses to things in my turn results anyway (like dealing with named/important characters you create for me). I cut down on the number of preachers I sent, unsupported, to other cities once I decided nothing seemed to be coming of it.

There doesn't look like anything that I don't already try to do. I lead off the action OOC with what I want to accomplish and then follow with in character background to the order and I don't assume beyond the action itself. :)

I moved it here... you shouldn't mention DRPs or Treasury points in the Game Thread :P

Since you want a summary of moves now, can we dispense with the descriptive submittals? in the past, the way a submittal was written made a difference in the success or failure of results.

Yeah, definitely ok to give non-drp messages to Prophets, and orders to go here; preach; round up a group to do X. Easy stuff.

from the new rules bit:
- While writing your moves, resist the temptation of creating characters who, "coincidentally", can help you overcome an obstacle. For example, if you are attacking a city, avoid writing something like "it just so happens that in that city, Mr. X is sympathetic to my cause and decides to open the gates to my army" unless you already were informed of Mr. X's existence, or you're willing to spend power to accomplish this end.
There may not be an answer to this question, Xar, but I'll ask anyway. If you say in my results, "one of your followers decides to do X"(but no more details), can I then make up a backstory for said character so that I can use X to my advantage? As long as it's not too preposterous, of course!

(I kinda need some sort of answer to this soon, as alot of tomorrow's turn might be affected! )

I think you can use anything or anyone or any event that Xar gives you as long as it makes sense.

Oh sure.... Here I am thinking I am all cool and sh** because I got my turn in early and it was by the rules and all that and then Damelon points out that it is turn seven which makes me realize I labelled the turn, turn 6. Sorry Xar. Pfft. There goes my shiny gold star... ;)
