At first I simply couldn't believe it was meant to be a Christmas carol. As it played behind Sam Beckett's dialogue, what immediately came to mind was The Wicker Man and its haunting vocal chants.
Upon checking out this 'carol' I discovered the melody is actually a pagan piece of some sort that was appropriated, like so many pagan traditions, by the Christian church. That explains the slightly eerie minor-chord melancholy building to exultant seething harmony.
Loved, loved,
loved performing this song. One of my favorite pieces at the holiday concerts with choir.
Should you ever come across a performance of the pagan version, I would love some information on it to try and track it down.
Apparently it's something to do with swallows and good luck, but I've yet to find a recording of it anywhere.

alright, alright, I'll play!
The song originated as a Ukranian Folk song, sung around Epiphany. It's about a swallow, who is supposed to bring news of good fortune to the master of the house.
Here's a link to an article about it, if you want more information:

Which gives us the title, which leads us to
the Ukrainian version. It sounds much the same, just without the irritatingly twee lyrics.

That's my kid. After months and months of Watch absence, she shows up to answer a question about a Ukrainian folk song.
Phil Spitalny's "Hour of Charm All-Girl Orchestra."
I want to hear this album.

I've acquired more Angra now, so I'm currently listening to the slightly less chirpy but significantly more bombastic 'Acid Rain':
