Glad all is well, Sarge. :)

Magickmaker left for work a little while ago. Earlier this morning, she said, "I don't want to go to work." And I (who have the day off ) said, "I don't want to go to work either." And she couldn't punch me because it's not Thursday! (Family joke.)

She and I had planned to get up at 6am and go to our local yarn shop's Black Friday sale. We both stumbled out of bed shortly after 6am and met in the hallway. "I don't really need more yarn," she said.
"Neither do I," I said.
So we both went back to bed.

Good call on our parts -- apparently the people who were in line at 6:30am did not get into the store before the 30% off sale ended at 8am 8O Can you imagine, a line outside a *yarn shop* on Black Friday??? The world's gone mad....

Healing and love out to Menolly and Cail.

I'm pretty exhausted at the moment, on all levels.

Physically, I just finished a three day move and flat cleaning on Thursday night. On top of that, been working more than my usual work hours. Yesterday was particularly taxing; had four hours on checkout before my chilled and frozen shift, then the delivery was late which meant I ran out of time and had to shift half a pellet of butter, cheese and orange juice (read: freaking heavy boxes) directly into the chiller. Then this arvo going to a hall to help a friend set up for her 19th birthday party. Phew. Going to sleep the morning away tomorrow.

Emotionally, I'm in the middle of trying to help a close friend out of an emotionally abusive and controlling relationship. He only opened up to me about it last week, and myself and another of his friends have been sorting out what we're going to do about it. It's hugely upsetting to see what my friend is going through, but when I think about his "boyfriend" I experience a cold fury I can't remember feeling before. Plus sorting out all my own shit, pulling out of uni, transferring counsellors (since I currently use the uni counselling service), and saying goodbye to friends I've lived with for two years.

Damn, I need a rest....

Hang in there, Cambo. Physical tiredness fortunately can be rested away and is supposedly good for you...although I agree with Foamfollower that "there is ample time to refine the spirit when the body has no other choice."

As for the emotional exhaustion from supporting your friend whose boyfriend had been mistreating him, bully for you! That's what friends are for, and I surely know how standing up for friends in need can wring you out.

On that topic, thank you for the healing thoughts and love for Menolly. Same thanks to all Watchers sending prayers and other positive energy her way. Even though I know this is a lot more routine a procedure than when Dam-sel went through it, Menolly's thyroidectomy is much on my mind.

Had a lot of fun at work today despite the onset of the horrific christmas music. I was so busy playing with the microscope to notice when the change over happened and Sorus had to point it out to me. Of course once that happened I had a hard time ignoring it again. Ugh. Yes, they played the horribly long drawn out monotonous no lyric synthesizer version of the twelve days of Christmas. No wonder people go postal. Anyways, for more details see my blather blog.

Hugs and love to everyone who needs them, AND I now have some homemade beeswax candles to light for Cail and Menolly. They are twice as potent because they are made from love for the bees and also the purpose of sending healing vibes. Menolly, Cail, plan to receive a double whammy infusion of positive right now.

By the way, anyone seen Lorin around?
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

She posted something a couple of days ago, I think.

Today was the first day that the word count validator was available on the NaNoWriMo site. Batty, Shara_Lunison and I all plugged our novels into the validator, and we're all now sporting purple bars at the NaNo site. (When NaNo confirms you've reached 50,000 words, the site changes your progress bar from blue to purple.) This is the first year Shara_Lunison has won, so we're extra excited. And in the process, she finished the first draft of her masters' thesis (it's a YA fantasy novel). So much to celebrate!

Or as St Augustine said " Give me chastity and continancy - but not yet!"

Cambo - it seems that we do pretty much the same job. I'm in a 7-11 store doing 8 hour checkout/stock duties just as you describe so your post rang all the right bells for me. No-one who hasn't been there will know the price that has to be paid just to get the food we eat onto the shelves, and often at really bad times of day/night and for minimum wage. How in God's name can cheese be so heavy!

Nuller, I saw an article that may explain why they let you off on the stuff you were facing.

They should base its programming on your behaviour. It could roll around the prison randomly spouting out fragments of bird migratory data and the freezing temperature of methane and so on. Would be great!

No wonder people go postal, indeed. I joke about the godsawful music, but it really does elevate my stress level, and that's the last thing I need right now. Does anyone actually like that playlist? Has the person that designed it ever had to listen to it? Every day? For a frakking month?

And the people who look down on such jobs wouldn't last 5 minutes in our shoes.

I'm kind of at sixes and sevens right now. Batty and Shara_Lunison left this afternoon for home. Magickmaker left for work about an hour ago. The NaNo novel is done, I finished the book I was reading, and I completed my latest knitting project last night. Now what? :?

I mean, there's the to-be-read stack over there, and I have plenty of knitting projects to dive into. Just not sure I'm in the mood tonight. I guess I could watch a movie....

I'm sorry you didn't like it. We saw it over the summer at the theater and I thought it was great. There's no movie shortcoming that a shirtless Daniel Craig can't cure!

I've got "Gran Torino" sitting on the coffee table. Will probably go and watch that in a minute.

:? What is it with me and G strings...I mean honestly! :(

2yrs ago I bought a Vintage acoustic guitar, quite expensive it was too. After only a year the headstock split from tip, right through the G machine peg, to the nut. And the shop I bought it from had closed down by then - recession and all that.

My new Rikter acoustic, 2 months old, has a serious problem with the G machine peg. It spranged while tuning in a new set of strings. Fixable I'm sure...but honestly. WTF!!!

Anyway
