Pulling Touch - Poi Dog Pondering

You are a butterfly and my eyes are needles
The cold has your breast and my hand is on fire
You resting and reposing
My veins are pulsing
And nothing can cure me, but your pulling touch
I'll stretch you out, and lay alongside you
Run my hands along, devour and divide you.
In the cool of the night, under a rain-pelted roof
Beneath cotton white linen, our love is spilt
You are a cup that I hold by the cheekbones,
I pull you close and I drink you up.
I'll stretch you out, and lay alongside you
Run my hands along, devour and divide you.

So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life

Uncorrected personality traits
That seem whimsical in a child
May prove to be ugly in
A fully grown adult

Lack of involvement with the father
Or over-involvement with the mother
Can result in lack of ability
To relate to sexual peers

And in homosexual leanings
Narcissism, transsexuality --
Girls from the waist up
Men from the waist down --
Attempts to be your own love object
Reconcile your parents to you
By becoming both at once

Even Marilyn Monroe was a man
But this tends to get over looked
By our mother-fixated
Overweight, sexist media

So, uncorrected personality traits
That seem whimsical in a child
May prove to be ugly in
A fully grown adult

If you give in to them
Every time they cry
They will become little tyrants
But they won't remember why
Then when they are thwarted
By people in later life
They will become psychotic
And they won't make an ideal husband or wife

The spoiled baby grows into
The escapist teenager who's
The adult alchoholic who's
The middle-aged suicide

Oi
So

Uncorrected personality traits
That seem whimsical in a child
May prove to be ugly in
A fully grown adult

Okay, just found this old post upon searching the Watch for "Faire." AWESOME nerdiness. Also, I only started "hearing" the lyrics as a rap song about halfway through reading it... :-D
Cail wrote:You see me mowin' my front lawn

White and nerdy

Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Can't you see I'm white and nerdy
Look at me I'm white and nerdy

I wanna roll with the gangstas
But so far they all think I'm too
White and nerdy

Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
I'm just too white and nerdy
Really, really white and nerdy

First in my class here at MIT
Got skills, I'm a champion at D&D
M.C. Escher, that's my favorite M.C.
Keep you're 40, I'll just have an Earl Grey tea
My rims never spin, to the contrary
You'll find that they're quite stationary
All of my action figures are cherry
Stephen Hawking's in my library

My MySpace page is all totally pimped out
Got people beggin' for my top eight spaces
Yo, I know pi to a thousand places
Ain't got no grills but I still wear braces
I order all of my sandwiches with mayonnaise
I'm a wiz at Minesweeper, I could play for days
Once you've see my sweet moves, you're gonna stay amazed
My fingers movin' so fast I'll set the place ablaze

There's no killer app I haven't run (run)
At Pascal, well I'm number one (one)
Do vector calculus just for fun
I ain't got a gat, but I got a soldering gun (what?)
Happy Days is my favorite theme song
I could sure kick your butt in a game of ping pong
I'll ace any trivia quiz you bring on
I'm fluent in JavaScript as well as Klingon

Here's the part I sing on...

You see me roll on my Segway
I know in my heart they think I'm
White and nerdy

Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Can't you see I'm white and nerdy
Look at me I'm white and nerdy

I'd like to roll with the gangstas
Although it's apparent I'm too
White and nerdy

Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
I'm just too white and nerdy
How'd I get so white and nerdy

I been browsin', inspectin' X-Men comics
You know I collect 'em
The pens in my pocket, I must protect them
My ergonomic keyboard never leaves me bored
Shoppin' online for deals on some writable media
I edit Wikipedia
I memorized Holy Grail really well
I can recite it right now and have you R-O-T-F-L-O-L

I got a business doing websites (websites)
When my friends need some code, who do they call?
I do HTML for 'em all
Even made a homepage for my dog, yo
I got myself a fanny pack
They were havin' a sale down at The Gap
Spend my nights with a role of bubble wrap
Pop, pop - hope no one sees me gettin' freaky

I'm nerdy in the extreme
Whiter than sour cream
I was in AV club and glee club
And even the chess team
Only question I ever thought was hard
Was "Do I like Kirk or do I like Picard?"
Spend every weekend at the Renaissance Faire

Got my name on my underwear They see me strollin', they're laughin'
And rollin' their eyes cause I'm so
White and nerdy

Just because I'm white and nerdy
Just because I'm white and nerdy
All because I'm white and nerdy
Holy cow, I'm white and nerdy

I wanna bowl with the gangstas
But oh well, it's obvious I'm
White and nerdy

Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
I'm just too white and nerdy
Look at me I'm white and nerdy
In response, I present:
Caltech Girl
lyrics by Ben Williamson and Bret Victor
(to the tune of "Uptown Girl")

Caltech girl,
She’s been livin' in her Caltech world.
Bet she never had a double-E guy,
Bet her advisor never told her why
I'm gonna try For a Caltech girl,
I even taught her how to code in Perl.
Then I lent her my HP
She never even gave it back to me,
But I have three.
And when she's walking,
I'm stalking,
so close behind.
And when she's talking,
She says she loves my big huge mind.
She knows I'm not so buff,
That's okay,
I'm in love With my Caltech girl,
She even gave me her homepage url.
Now we chat on IRC all night,
Without my glasses on, she looks all right,
She's out of sight!
Caltech girl,
she's my Caltech girl,
You know I'm in love with my Caltech girl,
she's my Caltech girl,
You know I'm in love...

REM
Reckoning (1984)
Harborcoat

They crowded up to Lenin with their noses worn off
A handshake is worthy if it's all that you've got
Metal shoes on wood push through our back
There's a splinter in your eye and it reads 'REACT'

They shifted the statues for harboring ghosts
Reddened their necks, collared their clothes
Then we danced the dance till the menace got out
She gathered the corners and called it her gown

Please find my harborcoat, can't go outside without it
Find my harborcoat, can't go outside without it

They crowded up to Lenin with their noses worn off
A handshake is worthy if it's all that you've got
Metal shoes on wood push through our back
There's a splinter in your eye and it reads 'REACT', R-E-A-C-T

They shifted the statues for harboring ghosts
Reddened their necks, collared their clothes
Then we danced the dance till the menace got out
She gathered the corners and called it her gown

She said...

I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don’t let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

Remember the good times that we had?
I let them slip away from us when things got bad
How clearly I first saw you smilin’ in the sun
Wanna feel your warmth upon me, I wanna be the one

I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don’t let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

I’m so tired but I can’t sleep
Standin’ on the edge of something much too deep
It’s funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word
We are screaming inside, but we can’t be heard

But I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don’t let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

I’m so afraid to love you, but more afraid to loose
Clinging to a past that doesn’t let me choose
Once there was a darkness, deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had, oh you gave me light

And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don’t let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don’t let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Weep not for the memories

Roll away your stone, I’ll roll away mine
Together we can see what we can find
Don’t leave me alone at this time,
For I am afraid of what I will discover inside
You told me that I would find a home,
Within the fragile substance of my soul
And I have filled this void with things unreal,
And all the while my character it steals
The darkness is a harsh term don’t you think?
And yet it dominates the things I seek
It seems as if all my bridges have been burned,
You say that’s exactly how this grace thing works
It’s not the long walk home that will change this heart,
But the welcome I receive at the restart
The darkness is a harsh term don’t you think?
And yet it dominates the things I seek
The darkness is a harsh term don’t you think?
And yet it dominates the things I seek
The darkness is a harsh term don’t you think?
And yet it dominates the things I seek
Stars hide your fires,
And these here are my desires
And I will give them up to you this time around
And so, I’ll be found with my steak stuck in this ground
Marking its territory of this newly impassioned soul
But you, you’ve come too far this time
You have neither reason nor rhyme
With which to take this soul that is so rightfully mine

The Broad Majestic Shannon - The Pogues

The last time I saw you was down at the Greeks
There was whiskey on Sunday and tears on our cheeks
You sang me a song as pure as the breeze
Blowing up the road to Glenaveigh
I sat for a while at the cross at Finnoe
Where young lovers would meet when the flowers were in bloom
Heard the men coming home from the fair at Shinrone
Their hearts in Tipperary wherever they go

Take my hand, and dry your tears babe
Take my hand, forget your fears babe
There's no pain, there's no more sorrow
They're all gone, gone in the years babe

I sat for a while by the gap in the wall
Found a rusty tin can and an old hurley ball
Heard the cards being dealt, and the rosary called
And a fiddle playing Sean Dun na nGall
And the next time I see you we'll be down at the Greeks
There'll be whiskey on Sunday and tears on our cheeks
For it's stupid to laugh and it's useless to bawl
About a rusty tin can and an old hurley ball

So I walked as day was dawning
Where small birds sang and leaves were falling
Where we once watched the row boats landing
By the broad majestic Shannon

Lets put our heads together and start a new country up
Our fathers fathers father tried, erased the parts he didnt like
Lets try to fill it in, bank the quarry river, swim
We knee-skinned it you and me, we knee-skinned that river red

This is where we walked, this is where we swam
Take a picture here, take a souvenir

This land is the land of ours, this river runs red over it
We knee-skinned it you and me, we knee-skinned that river red
And we gathered up our friends, bank the quarry river, swim
We knee-skinned it you and me, underneath the river bed

This is where we walked, this is where we swam
Take a picture here, take a souvenir
Cuyahoga
Cuyahoga, gone

Lets put our heads together, start a new country up,
Underneath the river bed we burned the river down.
This is where they walked, swam, hunted, danced and sang,
Take a picture here, take a souvenir
Cuyahoga
Cuyahoga, gone

Rewrite the book and rule the pages, saving face, secured in faith
Bury, burn the waste behind you

This land is the land of ours, this river runs red over it
We are not your allies, we can not defend
This is where they walked, this is where they swam
Take a picture here, take a souvenir

Cuyahoga
Cuyahoga, gone
Cuyahoga
Cuyahoga, gone

More Beautiful You

Little girl fourteen, flippin' through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way.
But her hair isn't straight, her body isn't fake,
And she's always felt overweight.

Well, little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart.
And you were made with such care- your skin, your body, and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are.

There could never be a more beautiful you(!)
Don't buy the lies, disguises, and hoops they make you jump through.
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do.
...So there could never be a more beautiful you.

Little girl twenty-one the things that you've already done-
Anything to get ahead.
And you say you've got a man but he's got another plan
Only wants what you'll do instead.

Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come:
You starve yourself to play the part.
But I can promise you there's a Man whose love is true,
And He'll treat you like the jewel you are.

So turn around; you're not too far
To back away, be who you are.
To change your path-- go another way!

It's not too late: you can be saved.
If you feel depressed with past regrets,
The shameful nights hope to forget...
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who's strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world.
He will take your dark distorted view,
And with His light He will show you truth.
And again you'll see through the eyes of a little girl.
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."

Rainmakers - Greatest Night Of My Life

It was a one night stand
With a rock 'n' roll band
In a big old room
With a sonic boom
There were a thousand chairs
There were twenty-five there
And the band felt blue
I guess I did too
But we played and played
And when we walked off the stage
I swore I'd just jammed with God
It was the greatest night
Of a young boy's life
But the band just thought
I was odd
You never know who
Might be watching you
On the greatest night of your life

There was a little old town
I left and I loved
It was one mile square
Mighty quiet there
I split for the skies
Grew weary and wise
Out casting my pearls
All over the world
And I climbed so high
Nearly ruined my eyes
Trying to see what I could see
And what I saw
Was that little old town
Was all the world I'd ever need
The truth like a stone
Will come crashing home
On the greatest night of your life

There was a girl I loved
In that little old town
We were the best of friends
Odd even for then
But we went our ways
And she changed her name
And she changed her tune
Changed faces too
And I tried like mad
To recreate what we had
But it wasn't meant to be
And when I finally gave up
That I'd never know love
She was standing
Right in front of me
Love will arrive
In its own good time
On the greatest night of your life

Thanks for being here with me
On the greatest night of my life

Spring was never waiting for us, girl
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance
Between the parted pages and were pressed
In love's hot, fevered iron
Like a striped pair of pants

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

I recall the yellow cotton dress
Foaming like a wave
On the ground around your knees
The birds, like tender babies in your hands
And the old men playing checkers by the trees

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

(break)

There will be another song for me
For I will sing it
There will be another dream for me
Someone will bring it
I will drink the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at the sun
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
You'll still be the one

I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
I'll be thinking of you
And wondering why

(break)

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!
Oh, no
No, no
Oh no!!

"Nothing is Wrong"
Gomez

Sometimes I feel that something is wrong,
And the same goes for you.
Cuz you’re not seeing the world at all, are ya?
The same goes for me.

Well this is not the be all and end all for us.
The being and the ending and all the above,
There’s more
I used a little,
A little used to be too much for me.

But we’re not here to judge you.
We want to be your friends now.
And we can make you feel like everything that’s gone wrong happened for a reason.

Some how I feel like signing up,
And the same goes for you.
Sometimes your signature’s worth nothing at all,
And the same goes for me.

Well this is not the being and ending for us.
The being and the ending and all the above,
There’s more
I used a little,
A little used to be too much for me, for me.

But we’re not here to judge you.
We want to be your friends now.
And we can make you feel like everything that’s gone wrong happened for a reason.

Well you can come with us now.
There’s no need to be scared, be scared, now.
Cuz we can make you feel like everything that’s gone wrong happened for a reason.

This is not the be all and end all of us, there’s more.
This is not the being and ending of us, there’s more.
The being and the ending and all the above,
The being and the ending and all the above,
You want more and more and more.
A little never was enough for me for me.

Cuz we’re not here to judge you
We want to be your friends now.
And we can make you feel like everything that’s gone wrong happened for a reason.

Well you can come with us now.
There’s no need to be scared, be scared, now.
And we can make you feel like everything that’s gone wrong happened for a reason.
And we can make you feel like everything that’s gone wrong happened for a reason.
And we can make you feel like everything that’s gone wrong
It happened for a reason.
It happened for a reason.

I could be a smack freak
And hate society
I could hate GodAnd blame Dad
I might be in a Holocaust
Hate Hitler
Might not have a child
And hate schoo
lI could be a sad lover
And hate death
I could be a neuro
And hate sweat
NoI hate my way
I make you in to some I can't rise above the church I'm caught in a jungle Vines tangle my hands I'm always so hot and it's hot in here I say it's all right My pillow screams too But so does my kitchen And water
And my shoes And the road I have a gun in my head I'm invisible I can't find the ice A slug I'm TV I hate A boy was tangled in his bike forever A girl was missing two fingers Gerry Ann was confused Mr. Huberty Had a gun in his head So I sit up late in the morning And ask myself again How do they kill children? And why do I want to die? They can no longer move I can no longer be still I hateMy way

Was indecisive for quite some time about what to choose first - I have many lyrics I seriously love. Decided I'll just start with something.

Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force - "Fury"

I now will tell you all a story,
That no one ever heard before.
It is the tale about the fury,
Remember wisdom is your strength.

It said you're such a fool
Just let my evil rule

[Chorus]
No, it's burning like a flame,
Now nothing seems the same.
I've lost control of mind and body
My soul is in its hand
Its wish is my command.
Enslaved forever by the fury,
By the fury, no!

At first it came to me in visions,
And that was filling me with pain
And when my fear became desire,
To let the demon burn my soul.

It said "Don't fight in vain,"
"I'll make you love the pain."

[Chorus]
No, it's burning like a flame,
Now nothing seems the same.
I've lost control of mind and body
My soul is in its hand
Its wish is my command.
Enslaved forever by the fury,
By the fury, no!

I now have told you all my story
And still for you its not too late.
Don't draw your sword
Just use your wisdom
And never let this be your fate.

Oh, no it's here again,
This demon loves the pain.

[Chorus]
No, it's burning like a flame,
Now nothing seems the same.
I've lost control of mind and body
My soul is in its hand
Its wish is my command.
Enslaved forever by the fury,
By the fury, no!

Trip to heave and ho, up down, to and fro'
You have no word
Trip, trip to a dream dragon
Hide your wings in a ghost tower
Sails cackling at every plate we break
Was cracked by scattered needles
The little minute gong
Coughs and clears his throat
Madam you see before you stand
Hey ho, never be still
The old original favorite grand
Grasshoppers green Herbarian band
And the tune they play is "In Us Confide"
So trip to heave and ho, up down, to and fro'
You have no word
Please leave us here
Close our eyes to the octopus ride!

Isn't it good to be lost in the wood
Isn't it bad so quiet there, in the wood
Meant even less to me than I thought
With a honey plough of yellow prickly seeds
Clover honey pots and mystic shining feed...
The madcap laughed at the man on the border
Hey ho, huff the Talbot
The winds they blew and the leaves did wag
They'll never put me in their bag
The raging seas will always seep
So high you go, so low you creep
The wind it blows in tropical heat
The drones they throng on mossy seats
The squeaking door will always squeak
Two up, two down we'll never meet
Please leave us here
Close our eyes to the octopus ride!

Sit up, touching hips
To a madcap galloping chase
"Cheat" he cried shouting kangaroo
It's true in their tree they cried
Please leave us here
Close our eyes to the octopus ride!
The madcap laughed at the man on the border
Hey ho, huff the Talbot

I remember the day it stands clear in my mind
We went down to Dun Laoighaire to wave you goodbye
Your ma was quietly weeping, there was a tear in my eye
you're sailing to Gallipoli to die

You looked so young as you stood there with a glint in your eye
and you sang rebel songs as the streamers flew high
Your ma she turned away and I heard her sigh
you are sailing to Gallipoli to die

You were all that we had, your mammy and me
when you marched head erect you were proud as could be
but it killed your poor ma and it slowly killing me
when you were blown to kingdom come on the shores of Gallipoli

We got only one letter we knew right away
It said deepest regrets your son was bold and he was brave
you were only 19 yet your mammy and I
let you sail to Gallipoli to die

You were all that we had, your mammy and me
when you marched head erect you were proud as could be
but it killed your poor ma and it slowly killing me
when you were blown to kingdom come on the shores of Gallipoli

You fought for the wrong country you fought for the wrong cause
and your ma often said that it was Ireland's great loss
all those fine young men who marched to foreign shores to fight the war
when the greatest war of all was at home

You were all that we had, your mammy and me
when you marched head erect you were proud as could be
but it killed your poor ma and it slowly killing me
when you were blown to kingdom come on the shores of Gallipoli

I'm curious to know exactly how you are
I keep my distance but that distance is too far
It reassures me just to know that you're okay
But I don't want you to go on needing me this way

And I don't want to know if you are lonely
Don't want to know if you are less than lonely
Don't want to know if you are lonely
Don't want to know, don't want to know

The day you left me, left me feeling oh so bad
Still I'm not sure about all the doubts we had
From the beginning we both knew it wouldn't last
Decisions have been made the die has been cast

The phone is ringing and the clock says four A.M.
If it's your friends, well I don't want to hear from them
Please leave your number and a message at the tone
Or you can just go on and leave me alone

Artist: Be Bop Deluxe
Album: Sunburst Finish
Track: Crystal Gazing

The man who owneed the heartache
That lived on the stairs...
Passed me in the night whistling "Memories of You"...

I stared to frightened to move
For fear my eyes shown a light
On the darkness he drew like a cloak
All around his shoulders...

And the church on the corner
Marked the time for the mother
Who was giving birth to a child across the hall...
And I waited half in anger, half in sadness
For an answer to the call for help
I had written on the wall

And the rain fell like jewels
On the heads of all the fools
Who wandered crazed with their souls ablaze for me...
And the blessing of the hour
Was the twilight and the tower
With its golden bell form the bottom of the sea...

And the moon through the window of the bedroom
Where lovers slumbered
Made a silver dance of such dust beneath the bed...

And I waited for a moment in the lamplight,
Crystal gazing
Listening to their hearts
And the changing of their breath.

Listening to their hearts
And the changing of their breath.
