Sorry for the double post, but Im trying really hard no tto post up a post only saying

Garrius Sleeps

Its odd being in a game doing nothing. I shouldn't complain as I'm about to update VoB but still.

As awesome as 'Garrius Sleeps' sounds, don't be worried about not posting. It's a symptom of the current encounter setup. Some players simply had to sit on the sidelines while other things happen. However, after this 'shift' I'll abstract the progression of time a little, and things should become smoother.

I hope noone minds not having things happen for their characters of major import, while other characters have some juicy encounters. It always seems a bit fake to me to force encounters simply because it's a game.

i got it to work, thanks. i just couldn't get the link that Picasa provided me to work, which i'll know not to trust in future.

also, i'm a Firefox user:

I was a dedicated fierfox user myself, but got sick of how much power it took to run over time, especially once you had a few addons. Chrome is fast as hell and looks neat

yeah, understandable. i like the add-ons, and restarting Firefox now and then seems to help with the gradual bloat, which is why i stick with it.

i'm hoping that the devs keep slimming it down.

So, last night I saw the new Rogue Trader movie by Clint Eastwood. It's a bit abstract, and you don't get to actually see the Invictus Aeterna, or any of the crew. It was set on some backwards world led by a former prisoner and rebellious faction leader who used a game to quell the teeming masses of the slum cities he controlled. In this game, groups of what appeared to be genetically engineered warriors fought each other for some ancient (presumably) cup. Perhaps it belonged to a Primarch or something, it was never really made clear.

Anyway, it was very good. I recommend it.

Invictus. The new film from Clint Eastwood. I mean, I assumed it was about RT with that title...

i hear there's plenty of talk about xenophobia in the movie, in which case, is highly recommended by the Ecclesiarchy.

Isn't District 9 set in that same slum? We get to see the hivers there righteously rise up and beat those xenos down.

It was glorious, though in the end, not a total victory like I expected. The moral there, I guess, is to not let your guard down... the xenos threat is everpresent.

I should just point out, for drak kings sake, that the inquisition in the 40k universe is an all powerful organisation that is effectively the secret police of the imperium, and as such would have (at least I hope not) no presence aboard the invictus.

You may wish to edit your post a bit.

And if the inquisition is on board, then shits bad 8|

ooops. Thought they were like the church's inquisition I'm familiar with..will edit...I'll assume, though, that investigation for possible heresy and corruption are Bad Things...

I know I'm going to hate myself for saying this, but I'm starting to feel like the main source of inspiration for Andrea's behavior is Mary Poppins, of all things.

<shudder>

I'll try to refrain from bad musical scenes, if I can. I was quoting showtunes earlier, though... this could be difficult.

Yes, that and suffer not the mutant.

Anyway - sorry I haven't been able to post in game. I will be moving in two days, and it may take some teething to get a net connection in my new 'quarters', so it may be difficult for me to post for a week. I will as soon as I can.

I have asked to inform you all that montresor will not have net access for about two weeks. Additionally, my net has been cancelled so I will be unable to post much at all.

Cheers Lore. I guess the interim would be a good time for players to work on the NPC/clan contest, although the technical deadline was yesterday, since the GM is absent it should make an entertaining diversion.
Montresor wrote: NEW CONTEST

An unorthodox contest. Players are invited to create a simple write-up for either a minor NPC onboard the Invictus, or a small clan/gang.

You may make an entry for both, if you like.

The only other stipulations are:

- the NPC may not be from the Senior Staff, or be in a position of authority over another player. They cannot be a subordinate of your own player. NPCs must be the kinds of people you would legitimately find on the vessel.

- the clan or gang can only be small, and may only number about fifty people. No NPCS for the clan are permissable to be created in the entry.

- entries should be short (no more than a hundred and fifty words).

- entries are due by the 1st of Feb.

There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and all winners will have their creation used on the vessel (as is appropriate). Awards will be in XP, and the values will be divulged later (most likely the same as the 1st comp).

The purpose of this contest is to give players the opportunity to involve themselves in the enlivening of the ship, without directly using their PC.

Oh, SNAP! I'd totally forgotten about this contest. Thanks for the reminder, Stone.

Hey all - serious net issues where I am staying. The colleges are being renovated and all the garden is torn up. Consequently, there is no phone or net in my room as of yet. Other than that, universities always seem to be on the cutting edge of information technology failure, so this is the first time I have been able to access anything but my email. My apologies for the delay. I hope to have replies for everyone on the weekend.

Also, the contest deadline has been extended to give you all something to do. Please post entries in the contest thread. Cheers.

Some rather hurried replies up, but I'm glad to keep things moving. Until I get net access properly, I may not be able to post more than every two days or so. Also, please not the extension for the contest is until the first day of March.

I will move the timeline forward soon by a comparative jump. All players should feel free to post as they like but, in the interim, I will only directly supervise Drak-Kung and Andrea, until their encounters are resolved. After that, things will move forward by almost a day or more.
