Just a little extra special extra bonus, unrelated to the contest. I drew this chalk illustration of Thomas Covenant a few months ago in a friend's garage. I visited him last weekend and saw it again, and decided to post a pic of it.

Shuram, well done on both
And now, on top of all my personality tricks, I'm going to channel Frosty, well, post her contest entry at least.

LOL

That's one wonky mirror for Covenant. Thank you Frosty. (and Effaeldm for posting it)
I didn't envision anything like this when I proposed this idea but this is fabulous.

Laugh-out-freaking-loud!!!!!
Seriously, I am dying here. The longer you look at it the funnier it gets. Come back, Frosty!!! The Land needs you!!

Hai guys, hadn't seen these; thanks. (I'm wavering a bit about my hiatus. Please please please understand that I find public posting uncomfortable. I'd thought something about keeping quiet at least half a year more, but...) Miss you too, Deer!
I'm loving the other entries, the hairy ape Foamy had me in stitches.

And Deer's monotonous mugs were highly inspirational.

Glad to see you in person Frosty.
Is anyone else interested in adding their own bad illu?

I enjoyed this contest. There were some great entries.
All right. I've come up with the next contest:
As we all know, in the Land different sides of Thomas Covenant manifest themselves as autonomous characters. When Covenant meets his attractive daughter Elena, Covenant is smitten. He also feels moral recriminations about that feeling and maybe a few other things. Lets see these sides as full blown characters and let them have their say. They can all be (mini?) Covenants or they can be your choice of Land characters.

Thanks for the deadline, tried to start moving after seeing it

Had an idea, but took quite a bit to...
Btw, Shuram, who is on your pic? I can list all mine... if needed

We had four entries to this context.
First was deer of the dawn who gave us her matrix of grumpiness. While I loled at some of the emotions (rapey, Argent, ?giggly??) and their unchanging depictions I wanted more art and interaction in the entry. Still, nice show.
Shuram Gudatetris did a John Lithgrow Covenant. Apey bigfoot love for FoamFollower and his sense of wonder were especially captivating. What can I say, John Lithgrow knows his stuff. This is quite the piece.
Frostheart on the other hand went with the idea of Land reflections of Covenant with his Covenantimania. Kudos for choosing the path less traveled. Would THIS be the Land if it really was only made from Covenant's imaginings and his reflections? A disturbing thought.
But in the end I have to go with Effaeldm's last minute debauched shoulder Angel-devils. You made my day. This works on so many levels. Was THIS what SRD had in mind before Delrey made him rewrite IEW?
Congratulations, Effeldm. You are the winner of this cotest.

Gahahaha congrats Effy. XD That was terrible. The pixelated characters, Leia's...Elena's mspaint robe... Is that Tim Curry in drag in the green smear?

Lordy, they were truly bad!! Funny, hilarious, entertaining and seriously disturbing

(actually although Frosty's was "bad", it is still an awesome piece of art).
Congrats Effy!

Thanks to everyone for the pleasant comments and the lovely competition
I won't delay the contest with taking a long while to think over a new one
This one is somewhat inspired by the thing I've done above, as should be possible to tell - the idea is to depict one of SRD's books (not necessarily the Chrons) as a different genre. Like the Chrons turned into science fiction or a horror story, or the Gap into fantasy or into the mythinological stories it was based on (or some others), or MN into a detective story, etc. Using some other specific story or several is possible, or you can do it generally in the other genre's style.

I kind of did that once...
Definitely going to have to find a different genre.

Afraid this'll have to wait till after Newyears. I'm also very tempted to make some "serious" bad art this time; I've had a smattering of ideas for cartoon covers to the 2nd Chronicles à lá The Last Dark, although not that complex.
