They are science fiction, Murrin. Have you read anything by Feist? Some of his earlier books in his Midkemia series were pretty good, though some of the later ones are not...his first trilogy (which in paperback is four books) is some of his best -- Magician Apprentice, Magician Master, Silverthorn, and A Darkness at Sethanon.

Also, have you tried Tad Williams's Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy? (again, in paperback it is spilt into four books). Some people find his books a bit slowly-paced, but I think his writing, and his use of words, to be very beautiful and enjoyable.

Neverness is more than just Sci-Fi, and it's not your usual Sci-Fi by any means. (thanks for dissuading him in on fell swoop duchy! :oops: Sorry still pissy-edgy from a certian general discussion and didn't mean to take it out on you! :D)

The Neverness books are quite wonderful, and not at all in your general run of science fiction. I would heartily recommend them to anyone who does like to read science fiction, as I would also recommend Dan Simmons's Hyperion/Endymion books and his new Ilium. And anything by David Brin. :)

After looking about, having a bit of trouble working out which order all those Feist books are meant to be in - there are too many of them... Think I like the look of Memory, Sorrow and Thorn, though - gonna take a look at that series next. Thanks for the tip, Duchess!

There are a lot of Feist books, and they really vary in quality, too. Some of his earlier books, especially, are pretty good, but some of his later ones are basicly novelizations of computer games. :?

I am currently reading Ursula K. LeGuin's The Furthest Shore and Greg Keyes's The Briar King.

The last one I can remember reading was a Star Wars book called Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter.
Darth Maul kicks ass. :) 8)

I'm re-reading the Dark Tower series by SK, in preparation for the release of the next one. Which is really soon, right?? (I'm an optimist - what can I say? -lol)

It's great so far! :D :D I'm about 200 pages into it, and it's soooo great to be travelling along the path of the beam again. Not that I didn't love the last book, of course, but it was kind of a time-out from the quest. I'm very worried about Susannah though. That's not a spoiler of any kind, just issues from the previous books. I have a bad feeling about this book. :( :( :( But I'm deliberately writing it off as holdover anxiety from HP5, where we knew something awful was going to happen.

Well, it's not really news. I've been worried about her since River Crossing, but all of Wizard and Glass took place over like 36 hours or something, so this is really the first chance to see what lasting effects, if any, the speaking ring demon had on her. :?

I know what you mean. Alot of the story was put on a kind of hold when we went back into Roland's past. Which I thought was awesome...and very sad :(

I had forgotten about the speaking ring demon..and that Susannah may be carrying it's offspring. I can't remember if she actually revealed to Eddie that she was preggers or not tho. I've only read them once and checked them out from the library, so I don't have my own copies :(
