Ugly kittens? I can't believe it. . . of course, having said that, last summer my godmother found a siamese female and her 7 kittens out in the woods by her house. The mother was half-starved, and all had ringworm infestations, and bad flea infestations. It took weeks of iodine baths and other treatments to get all of them looking healthy. And they grew into pretty kitties.. My best friend adopted one of the boys, and he is gorgeous.

I third the request for kitten pics. I've been going through the Album looking at everyone's cats. I like cats.

I need to post a new one of Haley in the Muttley Crew. It's been a long time.

Update, the cat is STILL in labor, and I have to be off to the dentist in just a few minutes.

I'm pissed off today. My car is still leaking brake fluid/clutch fluid despite having this supposedly "fixed" last week.

So I need advice. Do I take it back to the same place and say it still isn't fixed, or should I take it someplace else?

On the side of taking it to the same place:
It might be cheaper since they didn't get it fixed after dropping $400 last week, so they will probably try to make it okay.
They seemed able to get me in on a moments notice last week and had it done pretty quickly, which might be another reason why not to go to them again, because they weren't thorough. But I need my car tomorrow, so haste would be good. But there also might be a reason they have no customers.
They are within walking distance to my home, so I don't have to sit and wait for them to fix it and can get a nap in as I'm running on 3 hours sleep today.

On the side of taking it to another place:
I don't want to give these people any more of my business.
There is a place next to where I used to live that always got the job done, even though it cost me an arm and leg. But they were always thorough.
The place I'm thinking of is close to work, so if there is a problem driving, I won't have as far to go.

What think ye? I've only been to this place twice; the first time for an oil change and the second for my current problem.

Well, at least my mechanic does that. Jenn would be the expert here.

If they fix the problem for free, they are not getting more of your money right away. If the problem stays fixed, and in the long run you wind up being happy with them, you may then recommend them by word of mouth. If the problem occurs again within a ridiculous time frame, you could then go to the Better Business Bureau and lodge a complaint. Plus give bad word of mouth.

If it was me, I would go by there and see if they believe in making the customer happy by taking care of it for free. My assumption would be they would do a better job of it.

I'd say take it back to the same place to finish the job they started, then go elsewhere in future. That way, they don't get any more of your business (since you shouldn't be paying extra for them to correct their sloppy work) and you (hopefully) get the problem fixed without any further outlay.

Yeah, I think I'll give them a call. I am pretty nervous about the fact that they never seem to have much business whenever I've been. Everywhere else in the Denver area seems to have to take a few days to get to fixing stuff. It is convenient that this place can get to it though, but not if they don't fix it. I figured they'd be hungry to do a good job, but I'm starting to think maybe they don't get business because they don't care. We'll see. I'll give them one more chance. If it doesn't work out, then yes, I won't be going back, and might even lodge a complaint.

I started the day pretty ticked off, but I'm better now.

Just after getting to work today, I recieved notice confirming that I would be working extended hours until about 8pm this coming Monday, and thanking me for volunteering.

Only problem was, I never volunteered for this. So I wrote to my manager (the source of the email) indicating that I wouldn't be there. Then I got a message back saying that, since I had commited to the time, it was my responsibility to find someone else to cover for me.

In just a little bit of a huff, I found my manager, and (almost ) calmly explained that I had never made any such commitment to begin with. She responded with surprise to this revalation, since she had been told by one of the department heads that I had committed. Only problem here was, this particular department head is not the head of my department, nor have I had anything longer than a "Hi, how ya doin'?" type conversation with him in my life. To make things worse, the thing I had been "volunteered" for was something that I am prettly strongly opposed to doing, and had made my objections quite clear to my manager in the past.

It ends up that they have decided they can probably absorb the workload left by me "avoiding my commitments " without me. So I'm not doing it. But it still ticks me off, and I'm trying to decide between confronting the guy who "volunteered" me, and just ignoring it all.


But, it's almost noon on Friday, and I'm better now.

Cag, I recommend taking it back and letting them put it right. I know that not every repair goes perfect every time. There is also a chance that the part they replaced was defective out of the box. That happens alot more than people might think. Let them set it right and if you still feel that you can't trust them anymore then by all means find another shop. You want to know the secret to finding a trustworthy shop? Go into the local Napa store or other quality parts store and tell the guys at the wholesale counter you are looking for a shop to send your Mom to and ask them who they would trust. They will give you the most trustworthy and reliable shops in town.

Typically the latter is the better course of action (ignoring it all). Especially since it has no consequences for you and your boss is now to know that the other person is a volunteering jerk. That is, if your boss is also not a jerk, which it sounds like your boss has at least a modicum of understanding for not forcing you to work. So confronting the other guy is only going to cause problems. Save that for the second time. Then again, I'm a pushover, so don't listen to me.

Update on car story: I called up the place where I had my car "fixed" before, and am trying to be nice about it. They are able to accomodate me today, so I just need to make sure my car will get me close by my home, and things should be good. Thank goodness for the early shift today.

Nice bit of advising there. I'll have to give that a try.
Should I go in looking for something that shows I knows cars, or can I just buy some wiper blades. Everybody needs wiper blades. Is there a type of wiper blade that shows I knows cars?

Heehee! I prefer Bosch but Napa's own house brand called "Exact Fit" are pretty great too!

I feel tired and a little stressed. I am babysitting my goddaughter who is getting over an ear infection. Nothing like a baby to frazzle you and make you feel incompetent. She's tired, but cries every time I try to rock her, so she is sitting on my lap looking at the pretty pictures on KW as I type one handed.

Its been a very annoying day for me - I've been shifted around to 3 different work sites because someone forgot to inform me of the changes to my work day.

Ah, the fussy baby thing. Those were the days. (NOT!!!)

I'm a little frazzled today. One of my attorneys has been talking about cleaning up his office for the past couple of months. Yesterday, at the end of the day, he finally told me which files can go offsite. It's a whole freakin' bookcase full. So this morning I boxed up everything and had the Services Dept. bring all the boxes down here. (It's about 25 boxes of docs.) Now I get to organize it all. And I want to get it done by the end of the day Monday, because my vacation starts Tuesday and my third attorney will be back from maternity leave before my vacation's over.

First order of business is to sort everything into piles by client. Wish me luck. <dives in>

Good luck, Ali! I finally got the baby to sleep, and just put her in her crib. Now, to heat some lunch for myself. I'm hungry!
