Hello! Yes I am alive, despite all evidence to the contrary.

I just finished 'Interesting Times'. It was about as good as Colour of Magic, which is to say occasional giggles, but not as good as other Pratchett books which have had me laughing from page to page during my lunch break.

Still working my way through Runes for the second time, in preparation for FR. I'm loving every page this time around, as I understand enough of the story to enjoy its complexity, rather than just being confused.

Also, I'm impressed at SRD's melding of his new style of writing with touches of the operatic style from the first two chronicles. The prose is so dense, thick and full of meaning, that I'm reading it very slowly. Savouring the SRD goodness.

I just finished it this evening, but worth a mention.

Passage at Arms by Glen Cook. Black Company and Dread Empire were actually only good in my estimation but I thought this book kicked ass.

It's basically Das Boot in space.

River of Gods by Ian McDonald.

Just finished David Anthony Durham's Acacia: The War with the Mein.

Holy crap, but Acacia is a book that doesn't live up to the hype. Poor characterization throughout killed this one for me...

I'm re-reading A Game of Thrones, by George R.R. Martin. It reminds me how focused and addictive the series was, until A Feast for Crows went all over the place.

Just finished reading Watchers, by Dean Koontz, whilst waiting for Hedge Knight and Fatal Revenant to arrive.

I admit I am not a Dean Koontz fan, but this book was a literary delight, and I would suggest it to any dog lover.

Finished The Zombie Survival Guide and started World War Z both by Max Brooks.

I finally finished writing my review of Fatal Revenant for my blog. I've not held back from mentioning certain things about the plot that I needed to in order to discuss them, but I don't think it's anything I'd consider major spoilers, and I made sure not to be specific.

(First "real" review I've attempted. Wouldn't mind receiving some comments on how I managed with it--structure, content, whether it gives a consistent impression of the book or jumps about all over the place, as I suspect.)

Hi I am just starting Tad Williams Shadowmarch not got into it yet as I just put down and finished Fatal Reverant and you need need to take a breater after finishing that.

Completed my re-read of Runes over the weekend, and am already more than 100 pages into Fatal Revenant.

Still trudging through Fatal Revenant. Several weeks after starting it, I'm still only just beyond the second chapter. *sigh*

Beorn has finished it, so I am beginning The Great Book of Amber. I thought I had read all of the first chronicles. Turns out I have only read the first three books, and that was decades ago. Time to rediscover and journey forth.

Just finished GRRM and co.'s newest Wild Cards offering, Inside Straight.

As a mosaic novel, I was concerned about possible glitches in terms of continuity, consistency, chronology, style and tone. I was also worried about how the individual stories would fit and further the plot of the overall story arc. But the various plotlines are woven together almost seamlessly, and the entire cast of writers involved in the production of this book maintain an even style and tone throughout.

With good characterization and way more depth than meets the eye, Inside Straight is hip, cool, fun and fresh. Fans of the Wild Cards series should flock back in droves, their numbers increased by new readers eager to learn more about all those aces and jokers.

Kudos to George R. R. Martin, Melinda M. Snodgrass, Carrie Vaughn, Michael Cassutt, Caroline Spector, John Jos. Miller, Daniel Abraham, Ian Tregillis, and S. L. Farrell for a job well-done! The franchise is in very good hands, which bodes extremely well for the future. I'll be lining up for the forthcoming Busted Flush.

All well and good George--but come on! I'm dying for Dances with Dragons!!!

Just finished Kushiel's Chosen...was very good. I'm still a bit behind on that series though, first 2 books are excellent.

I am nearly 400 pages into Fatal Revenant, and to those who were still in the early chapters of the book,

it picks up and gets MUCH better, so don't worry.

After I finish Fatal Revenant, I'll be starting the Shadowfall series.
