It took me about 5 min to download the 262 MB through the wireless server at work. Now I'm reading the update notes.

It's been about a half hour....It took about 10 minutes to get to 99% done, and it's been sitting at 560 of 561MB for about 20 minutes now....grrrr!

Yeah, about a year or two ago, blizz started trickling the patch in while you play for a few weeks before the actual patch day. I have vista, so I had to give the blizz downloader permission to work about 2 weeks ago

A not so subtle hint. Funny how people complained about it at the time. (Well, Blizz didnt document that they were doing this) I wouldnlt trade 5 min. patches for anything now.

Hmm. I have the patch now, I can log in, but it's not working: it hangs on "Retrieving Character List".

Edit: apparently they're having server trouble following the patch, and a lot of people have been getting the same thing. Seems to be being fixed.

Edit2: The Scryers is one of only a handful of servers still having problems--it's up and down every ten minutes or so.

It's all working now.

I've been levelling up my fishing skill at Loch Modan, and I just caught "The 1 Ring".

It gives +1 to every stat.

I have made a character on the Scryers server. Its a draenai Shaman. (I think I'm about level 6 right now, I only played for about an hour last night...

Caught it in the sea at Menethil Harbour, fishing in a Firefin Snapper School. It seems to be a more difficult fishing area than the ones I've been doing before.

yeesh...i should start fishing again!!! i'm making stupid bandages which i haven't even USED!!

our game was corrupted for some reason (who knew) so yesterday evening when he got home from work and tried to run the patch the game had to do this half hour long repair thingy.
then we had trouble with the patch.
THEN ger finally got it to run and do its thing but i didn't get to log in
until like nearly 11. so i was up till nearly 2 am killing the WRONG dark strand dipthongs.
finally i read the quest again and realized i was in the wrong place,
when i got to the right place i was too tired to kill more dark strand dinkuses with void poopers and imp minions!!

but i've just been reading online and realized this quest is a N I N E part
quest!!!

soooo....

i reckon some of youse are leveled up enough to come on some of my more yucky Darkshore quests now?? yeah???

Did you try and sell The 1 Ring, Murrin? It's pretty rare and can fetch a lot of gold as a novelty item. I love the tooltip: "Not quite as good as The 2 Ring"

I went to Razorfen Kraul on my own to get one of those armored boars and I made it. It wasn't that hard at level 32, I only died once, but the mobs come in pairs and you have to chain trap the other which can be quite tricky.

I didn't realise it was quite so rare until I looked it up on the wiki--after I'd equipped it. I should have known when I saw that it sells for 11s at the vendor...
The wiki also says that the new patch has implemented "The 2 Ring", with +22 in every stat, and the label "Vastly superior to the 1 Ring".

I've started questing in Lakeshire. Just running back and forth quests so far, no killing. But I like the area.
Also need to find a Defias Messenger in Westfall--I've been up and down the road there several times, but can't find him.

On a side note, has anyone visited the new island for the Shattered Sun Offensive yet? Oh, the lag! I'm looking forward to all the daily quests when it settles down though, they're great money makers.
