Yeah, when my mom went in for her heart operation, she told me everything I would need was in a fat file (binder?) on her desk at home.

We all scoffed, but turned out she was more right than we were...

Hahaha, sorry if that wasn't clear. :D My mother prepared everything I would need in the event of her death, (bank info, insurance policies, will, all that stuff) before she had heart surgery, in case she didn't make it.

We all assumed she would be fine, but as it turned out, she didn't survive the procedure. (Which by the way was a complete success...:D They repaired the damaged heart valve, but the damage to the heart (caused by a heart attack) left it too weak to get blood through the repaired valve.)

When I first read your post I thought, "wait, did he just say his mom died?!" I guess I was right but it was some time ago.

But yes that is why we should always get those things in order. Even in the best of circumstances people die unexpectedly.

I became a minister through online so I could officiate the wedding of my grandson and his husband.

I'm available for anyone's wedding now...

♥♥♥♥ sorry for your loss ♥♥♥♥

It’s almost like she knew or was acutely conscious of the risks ~ Having all one’s affairs in order is such a positive way to support your progeny and your legacy ~ whatever that may be.

I like reverend. I knew a Reverend Johnson growing up at the West Congregational Church.

My Nigerian Commissary Manager calls me Uncle Wood. Its a sign of respect in her culture.

Well it's been a strange couple of years. I've been almost nowhere for so long now that it's an effort to go out. My lasting memory of lockdown will be queuing up for an hour or so outside a supermarket (masked and suitably spaced) at 7.30 in the morning (they let the oldies come before anyone else). That was my weekly foray into the world for some months.

I turned 70 at the beginning of May but I still feel young. I've resisted the pressure to take tablets, preferring to eat sensibly to lower the cholesteral level and I still wear jeggings (Jenn told me last time I went to America that I had a teenager's legs!) C is still alive and well and we celebrate our golden wedding next January.

So I hope to be here more often in future. I listen to books now to save my eyesight as it's getting difficult to spend any length of time looking at a screen or even a book. I would love to get the audio versions of the Covenant novels but cannot buy the Scott Brick ones in the UK. Any suggestions?

Thanks once again to my gas man (he got me onto the Malazan books) I'm listening to the Witcher books. I hadn't heard of these not knowing they had been made for television as I will not watch anything that has adverts in and only have ordinary tv with freeview.

I'll shut up now. It is good to be back!

The Scott Brick Covenant isn't available in the UK? Would they be playable if someone who could get them shipped them to you? Or are they only available in digital format?

I subscribe to audio.uk but there are no Scott Brick narrations of SRD there. I've tried to navigate the web to find the audio versions but saw somewhere that they could not be purchased in the UK. Now I can't find the site where I saw that. I'm confused as I can't find a site that offers the audio books with prices etc. If anyone could send me a link to such a website I would be grateful.

I found it "Note to customers in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Africa Territories: all Thomas Covenant audiobook titles by Stephen R. Donaldson are not available for purchase (both download and CD versions) due to publishing restrictions. Many apologies for the inconvenience. "

I don't see any way round this.

Nice to see you around Io.

Me, I'm fine...work and life still having a fine time kicking me around, but what doesn't kill you just makes you wish you were dead. ;)
