Well, I know Goodyear came up with the process to vulcanize rubber, but I don't know if he actually invented the tire or not.

Pretty darn good DW!
Charles Goodyear invented vulcanized rubber in 1844 that was later used for tires.
In 1888, John Dunlop invented the air-filled or pneumatic tires, however, his were for bicycles.
In 1895, André Michelin was the first person to use pneumatic tires on an automobile, however, not successfully.
In 1911, Philip Strauss invented the first successful tire, which was a combination tire and air filled inner tube. Strauss' company the Hardman Tire & Rubber Company marketed the tires.
your turn! 8)

Looking for three pieces of trivia:
1) What was the name of the song that catapulted white-boy rapper Vanilla Ice to fame in the 90's?
2) What other song was allegedly sampled to make this song?
3) Who is credited with that allegedly sampled-from song?

What/Who is...
1) Ice Ice Baby
2) Pressure
3) David Bowie

(I'm totally guessing this because that's the only song I know from Vanilla Ice)

You really got it right - I think Queen was co-credited with the song, but nothing about your answer was incorrect and it was 3-parter anyway. You rock!

Such infamous skits as "Dead Parrot" and " The Bereau for Silly Walks" were all created by what group, and what are their names.

Why is the sky blue?

(Yes there is a reasonably short scientific answer for this)

Posted: Wed Apr 19, 2006 1:55 am
by Cheval
Earth's atmoshpere filters out the infra-red and radiation waves(?) from the sun light,
making the sky look blue against the "blackness" of space.
Spoiler
That's my explaination at least.
Whether it is correct or not is a different matter.

Filtering is not exactly the right word, and it only involves visible light.......

Hint: The phenomenon bears someone's name...

Bueller took the day off.

I gave my guess, hopefully someone else will correctly guess.

I thought is was because of all the nitrogen in the atmoshere, and it had a slight blue tinge to it.
