Hello to all! I first read the Chronicles in the early '80s and loved them. I've re-read both Chronicles a few times over the years, but had no idea SRD was writing a third. One evening I was browsing around in Hastings and I came upon a copy of Fatal Revenant - OMG! 8O I quickly purchased it - but realized it was book 2, so I found Runes of the Earth and picked that up also. After doing a search for SRD's site, I found you folks. (This is my first discussion forum, so bear with me!) I began reading Runes, but decided I needed to re-read the first two Chronicles again first. (Especially after reading some of the in-depth discussions here! )

Hello everyone! I'm Nequam. I'm a newbie to this series, and am in the middle of Illearth War at the moment. (loved the first one to a great extent!!!) This site was referenced to me through another forum for Steven Erikson's A Tale of the Malazan Book of Fallen. (my favorite writer...but now very, very closely followed by SRD)

Welcome Nequam. I'm pretty sure I welcomed you in the First and Second Chrons forum already.

Be sure to head down to the Library forum, where you will find a sub-forum for Steven Erikson. There are a lot of fans of the Malazan series here.

Yeah you did. :)
But thanks, I'll go check it out. I'm still getting my 'new forum' legs and am not great at navigating yet.

I'm newbies :)
I'm French and I LOVE Thomas Covenant.

Little story of Thomas Covenant in France :

- Some years ago , a first translation of Thomas Covenant went out in "France, in paperback ( which had been shortened!)
It was a very bad translation.

-In 2005 , the first integral translation of Thomas Covenant
(book 1)went out
It's a very good translation , even if some people say " It's always better in the English version " .You can see diferent covers in French here:

www.amazon.fr/s?ie=UTF8&tag=firefox-fr- ... lla-search

-Actually , the 5th book has just been published and I'm reading it.

"How did you become a fan of Thomas Covenant the Incredulous?"

[I didn't really read books .One day , I was in a vacation camp (about computering) and i met somebody who was reading the first book of Thomas Covenant. I didn't know that book but it seemed interesting. I asked him :
" - What does your book deal with ?
And he only answered me :
- It's very dark and special. "
These words were meaningful enough to attract my curiosity. Sometimes later , I began to read it. It was a lightning shot ! A revelation !
It was The first book I managed to the very last page and I did so with a real pleasure .
Fabulous !Amazingly fantastic!
The following months , I bought all the other books as soon as they came out.

And today , I realize , especially in the second chronicle that my life resembles curiously that of Thomas Covenant.
I know , I'm a big fan , but I 'm not making up^^

Sometimes , it's funny....^^ ]

As for my English , i'm only 16 and i'm doing my best to understand and practice all the subtleties of your "dialect" . Feel free to correct my mistakes:)

What I am hoping that says is...
