Sorus wrote:Had to leave early because I wrecked my foot again. I think I'm in about the same boat as Sarge with that - an old issue that I should have had surgery on years ago and a newer issue that's probably something I'll just have to live with. Something in the bottom of my foot goes
pop, and it swells and gets hot and after walking on it for a couple of days it hurts so much that every step is nauseating. Don't know what that is, should probably get it looked at. You could fry an egg on my foot right now. I don't know why you'd want to, but you could.

the reason i am considering doing this now is that it puts a lot of strain on my other leg - to the point that it hurts all the time now. i have days where i can barely move the good leg. i do anyway. a lot of the times it will loosen up after awhile. but for the past four days it has burned and itched most of the day. time is the main concern - i have vacation, sick and holiday time built up. but two months is really pushing it for me. plus i will be useless at home for that time. i will catch up on my reading and writing though. but if i can work out the time - i want to do it. my ankle has hurt to some degreee (mild to severe) everyday since i was sixteen. twenty seven years. damn that is a long time. infection is still a concern. i will update after i see the doctor.
I was speaking to my ex boss who is retired right now and having the time of her life. She is such a young 68. I was telling her about my latest medical problem and my hesitation to have another surgery. She said one thing to me that has really stuck in my head. Take care of your medical problems when you are younger and as they come along. She said if you wait too long it will age you beyond your years. She said "and then you will be one of THOSE old people, miserable and in pain all the time. "
I have come to the conclusion that medical issues are inevitable as you
(I) get older. How we face them is the question. One thing I know for sure, they DO NOT go away with time, you can't push through them, and it is not a matter of mind over matter. Untreated medical issues will wear down your body and your spirit.

I'm a little nervous. My job interview is at 2:30 today.

I'm also kind of excited.

That's the sort of mentality I am trying to have these days, but it's at war with my general dislike and distrust of doctors.

I appreciate the thought and I certainly won't turn down a recommendation, but I don't know anything about cars.

Wait ... what? Interview?!?! I am not sure the Watch can handle this, Jenn. It took so long for us to get up to speed on the current job ...

Well, guys! I ROCKED it. It went awesome. Turned out a bit different than I had originally expected but in a good way. I'll post the details in the blather blog.
So basically I'm waiting on the background check, then I have to pass the drug test and fix a hire date and I'm in.

Gosh, I should hang around a bit more!
*hugs* to all who need it, especially Lorin!! ...and Sarge...and Deer Of The Dawn. Come on people, get it together and "be well!"
Great news for you Jenn.

But won't Sorus miss you.
I'm doing ok. Been suffering from what I think is a f**ked up case of anxiety related thingy-whatsit for the last couple of months. Get this sensation of something stuck in the back of my throat (more to one side than the other). I've been getting it for years but it only lasts a couple of days. Unfortunately, I then got it before xmas and it just hasn't gone away <sigh>. Doesn't hurt. It's just annoying. I've self diagnosed on the internet () and it could be from acid reflux, it could be anxiety, I could have cancer...but I doubt it. Anyway, taking Chinese happy pills (ones for anxiety) and trying not to think about it.

The good thing is, it doesn't seem that bad when I'm eating so I'm just eating heaps! CHOMP!
So that's my current physical update. Mentally: I'm insane, but that's nothing new.
I promise to hang around a bit more. I miss ya all!

Tried to buy a phone last week but it was out of stock; I was getting worried I'd never get it because the model I want has since been removed from the store's website, but I just got the call to say there's one in for me.
Company earned its full yearly bonus, so I'll be getting an extra two weeks' pay at the end of the month.
Got a letter from the passport office - I do have to go for a face to face interview before they'll issue me a passport.

Yeah, hi Seareach! And I'll have one of those application forms too.
You could also have a thyroid thingy, Seareach (the lump in the throat feeling). I'm getting mine checked out on Saturday.

Seareach - that is almost definitely a virus related thing affecting a gland or somesuch thing in your throat. Serious stuff doesn't much come and go away But with viral infections (colds, flu's etc) the body gets really sensetive and even low level challenges just 'jip' up a certain area or organ. Doctors are paid shit loads to be there to put your mind at rest for this kind of stuff - go and see yours.

I agree with the majority, Sea. It's probably something that can easily be cleared up with some meds.
I think I have finally found a dentist after hours of painstaking yelp/google review searches from the list of available dentists provided to me by my dental insurance. Out of 22 reviews he's still at 5 stars and everyone says something similar about his chair side manner. I'm going to try to make an appointment so I can get my teeth fixed asap. I've been living with that super ugly tooth mark for years and now that I have insurance and my xmas gift from Mom is to pay the parts not covered by the insurance, I am more than ready to make it happen. Can't wait to have a nice smile again.

Fun day. Two people downsized at our branch. One of them was me.
Another person was let go for performance reasons. Which in a way worked out for me; I was given a choice between the severance package, and a demotion to the suddenly open position. I get to keep my salary, but the different job duties mean I'll be giving up some commissions. And, of course, there's the fact that it's a step back for me.

That sucks Rigel. Better than nothing for now, but maybe you should be looking.
