There is train and shuttle bus service between Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

The train seems to be a more economical option, as well as being potentially more scenic. Here's information on the Santa Fe to ABQ schedule.

Alright, thanks!

Curious about possible local summer solstice traditions/events. Or is this something that only Nordics and neopagans observe these days? :P :P

We have plenty of weather gods around the Baltic; I can name about seven from the top of my head. Will pray for their mass cooperation and a drastic cooling of the temperatures down to a comfortable +15C. Which is all nice and warm compared to the +5C outdoors!

Yes, there are numerous followers among Watchers of various offshoots of the Old Ways. While I can't promise a naked run, there will probably be something to celebrate Midsummer.

I'll let those closer to such practices flesh out what to expect...

I have two cars so someone can use the Miata if need be. It only seats two but that's two more people that can be transported around. The jeep seats four (including driver) so that should be helpful for people needing transportation. Hopefully I'll have my own place established by then so depending on what I end up renting I may be able to put up someone at my place but I'll keep you all posted when that gets resolved.

Also, I think you should add Romeo to the list of attendees. He's never missed a fest before and I highly doubt he would miss the biggest one of all.... :P

Ärh. And I had looked forward to prancing naked on a rye field and burning a kokko to Ukko. Surmise it's going to be a barbeqokko instead...

Would love to be there, but unfortunately I'm in Australia. Can someone throw something at SRD for me though? A shoe might be fine - but with the soul removed - since that's how I'm feeling after the Last Chronicles…

;)

Jokes! Anyway, I'm sure it will be a lot of fun.

I would like to attend. So I don't have to go thru 18 pages of messages, is there a single page or post that provides most pertinent information?

Good to hear from you, Lore...even if you are not coming. Glad you were here last time; was a pleasure to meet you.

Taran: Any summary must be inadequate by definition, but here goes: Come to Albuquerque for the weekend of June 21. Watchers will be around for various stints most of the week before and a good chunk of the week after. Highlights are the dinner with SRD on Saturday night, barbeque at danlo's on Friday, various sightseeing trips, birthday celebrations and (of course) impromptu Midsummer revelry.

Look for Wayfriend's calendar posts in the last few pages for more detail on what is happening what days, who is coming (dlb's posts are really good for that too), and where folks are staying.

Anyplace in the greater airport area should be fine if you are having a hard time finding accommodations in your budget range. We are a friendly bunch, so you should have little trouble getting a ride from wherever you are staying to wherever the action is.

Okay.. Is this place still accurate?
danlo wrote:OK so here's my best plan so far: We use the Airport Sheraton Albq.: deals.sheraton.com/Sheraton-Albuquerque ... 512_NAD_FM rent a private room: The Valle Grande (easily holds 60) 6-9PM 6-21-14 @ $300 with bartender service @ $150 and a two course buffet, prime rib and talapia (vegetarian options), @39.25 per head before tax (add tax to everything). By calling their 1800 # and saying you're part of Elohimfest you'll save $27 on a basic room rate or $121 per night. They're also going to send us a private Guess Room link where we can book directly for 121 per night).

I think this is the perfect venue-great lighting, privacy, very little outside noise, tons of parking, right next to the airport and right down the hill from my house. Yes it IS the old Wyndham Hotel where they hold Bubonicon, the annual New Mexico Sci-Fi and Fantasy convention, so Steve is very familiar with it and should be very comfortable there. Our additional cost, of course is hiring a very competent film crew which should range from 250.00 to 400.00. So after you guys pay for your drinks and meal (and, of course, we need to pay for SRD and guest) this shouild be the overall amount we need to collect:

$200 is my deposit, feel free to help reimburse me

$300 for Valle Grande room
$150 bartender services
$80 Donaldson & Co.
$300 possible film crew estimate

$1030 or so plus tax (1300?, I don't know) tell me what you think--I've had some fairly large contribution offers already but we need a bit more-and we need to be completely committed by the 26th
I am ready to fly in.. I'll find a hotel but trying to make sure where the dinner is at or where we actually are meeting/eating/with Donaldson. Who do I pay money to to help with the costs? (What I quoted above was something I found but a little dated).

Wonderful, wonderful! Very sedate. Much more so than the Hokey Cokey (as quoted by Lurch) or Knees up Muvver Brown.

Ananda so good to hear from you. Try to come. I would love to meet you.

No-one, but no-one, is going to get me to frolic in the nuddy on midsummer's eve. Neither do I know any Morris dances. We did do country dancing in my first year of secondary school, but that was 51 years ago and I've forgotten everything!
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!
