What could I have possibly done to cause that?

I'm aching all over from a serious session at the gym with the trainer. I like muscle ache, as it means rapid growth.

I'm feeling amazingly good after swimming yesterday. Thinking that maybe I should've tried for another quarter-mile. Ah well, next time...
Here's the link to the article about my vacation in Washington Post yesterday:

It's great, ali!! I love the photo as well.
BEST AFTERNOON: Floating in a candlelit pool at Hammam BaƱos Arabes in Granada. Soft music, three pools of varying temperatures, no crowds, cute male masseurs and Moroccan mint tea (think hot mint-flavored syrup). My only question is: Why don't we have these in the States?
Oh...sounds
totally indulgent...

It was.
That's the only picture I brought back of myself in Spain. One downside to traveling by yourself: there's nobody to hand the camera to. (Note to self for next big trip: accost more people to take my picture....)

I'm feeling better. Although my internet connection is dreadful. I need to upload some work -- like, half/three quarters of a gig -- and my stuff keeps winking off. Disgusting.
I bought a bunch of Iron Man titles at the comics store yesterday. I wish Marvel would stop with the endless threads of conflicting canon; didn't they learn anything from going bankrupt!? But I am pleased to report that Tony Stark remains a big old ho-bag. Some things, thankfully, never change.

At the moment, I am bursting with pride...
...and am aggravated at the same person at the same time.
Beorn's school has said the underclassman academic awards were going to be last week for over a month, and that the student's home room teacher would give the student a letter to bring home if they were going to receive an award. Beorn's done...pretty good for this first year of high school, so I asked him several times if he was given any letters at school to show us.
"No..."
So, we didn't go to the ceremony, as the auditorium doesn't have room for those whose family member wasn't being honored.
Turns out Beorn received a letter in the mail that he never shared with us. He didn't make the connection between a letter mailed to him from the school, and me asking about any "parent alerts" from school. Typical with his condition, yet still frustrating when something occurs because of it that could have been prevented.
Anyway, turns out he received another
President's Award for Academic Excellence (Gold Seal, first award described on the page). My understanding is these are only given when you are graduating from elementary, middle school, and high school, and he did receive one each in 5th and 8th grade. So why he got one now I don't understand, but I won't argue.
He may also have awards for his individual classes, but he was told he needs to ask each teacher if that is the case.
So...I am immensely proud at the moment...
...and immensely frustrated.

You can always have your OWN awards ceremony.

Make him dress up and walk through the living room and have Paul present the award while you take the pictures. That could be fun for you all.

That does sound fun!
I'll let YOU talk my guys into it...

I like this idea a lot. Embarrassment is usually a pretty good motivator for something to not happen a second time.
To be fair to Beorn, Menolly, his mistake might not have anything to do with his disability, and everything to do with his being a teenager.

Congrats!
I'm very relieved. If things didn't work out the way they did I'd, probably, be comp-less for a week while some tech shop analyzed my hard drive. Fortunately my comp-whiz buddy Phorist came down from Santa Fe for a barbecue on Sat, I complained that my comp was slowing down and that websites were freezing on me. If he hadn't acted all my memory would have been lost in 3 days.
The comp came with the dreaded Norton Anti-virus and the update function broke and started an update tape loop. It compromised 75% of the memory. So now I have Avira, Spybot, Mozilla as an alternate browser (Internet Exploder kinda worked in cahoots with Norton) and 1GB more memory installed and the comp is a freakin' F-19. I'm flying around the net so fast my head's spinning. (It was so slow at one point that my flash player gave up and I wasn't able to log into the bank and the state taxation dept.)
So, if I complained about the Watch slowing down in the last month-it was really my comp entering it's death-throes.
