Good book. A much more subtle fantasy, definately weird rather than fantastic.
I found his Bas-Lag books to be unreadable (or at least I found
Perdido Street Station to be unreadable, which is the only one of the three I have tried) but I loved that one and his YA book
Un Lun Dun.
The City and the City is very good.
Still reading
Flat Earth by David Williams, and still very happy with it.

The, um, SIZE of Flat Earth is putting me off at the moment! But I've got tomorrow off with nothing to do, so I may have to lie on the sofa and start it... dunno if my eyesight is good enough to read it at kitchen table where i normally read!
Heh. That's my fault. Not knowing how to format the bastard for paperback... Sorry 'bout that. I'm no publisher. The book itself's not that long--101,000 words; about 280 pages.

I read that quite recently, Av. One of his best books. My favorite, though, will always be The Man in the High Castle.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying it. Hadn't read it before. Haven't read the one you mention either. Will have to keep an eye out for it.

Um. Weird. I was sat here doing nothing and the page redirected to tell me I'd thanked your post.

You
have to read The Man in the High Castle to really appreciate Dick (that never sounds quite right...

).

I love me some Dick. Specially late at night when I'm laying in bed. I just lay back, hold it in my hands...and read the words.

Just finished
Warriors edited by George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois, and it was pretty damn good. All killer and no filler in this anthology.
Check out the full review on the blog.
Cheers,
Patrick

There's just no keeping up with you Av...I'm still working on book 1 of the Baroque Cycle. Although it's almost done now.

Picked the short stories of Robert Sheckley again. Some didn't age all that well but a lot of them are still gems.

It has its disadvantages. Lucky for me I'm a keen
re-reader.
Reading Clive Barker's
Everville. 2nd Book of the Art, and a little more accessible than he 1st,
The Great And Secret Show.

Oh, excellent. One of my favourite series of all time (although I find Wolfe quite difficult sometimes)

Just reviewed Guy Gavriel Kay's awe-inspiring
Under Heaven. Should be the speculative fiction book of the year, and is definitely Kay's best work to date.
Check out the blog for the full review.

Witches Incorporated by K.E. Mills. It's the second in a trilogy, and I have to say that it's every bit as badly written as the first book was. It's debatable whether I'll finish it....
