The last ep of s2 was a brilliant twist. Shame they didn't use it to its full potential in s3.

Well, S3 has had a few slow episodes that could've done with a bit more of using the events surrounding S2 finale, but, they did capitalize quite a bit on it, and from what I see coming, it doesn't seem they are done capitalizing on it.

I was watching the final episode of Series Two.
Do you mean the final ep of Season Two? Or the most recent ep of the series?
Trapper wrote:Because I was preoccupied with other matters I turned off the TV halfway through.
I'm sure she was worth it. Now send her some flowers!
It was the last episode of Season 2, "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 2".
And I gave it all up for a measly tournament on Pokerstars.
I guess I'll just have to take Loremasters sage advice and buy the DVDs.
sindatur wrote:Bummer, if it was the last ep of S2 (Actually, the last ep of S2 first half also is a turning point) because that's a turning popint, that completely resets the stage for S3. If you didn't see the end of the episode, S3 will completely lose you.
I did see that they had found a habitable planet in Part 1, and I've read that they settle there and Apollo gets fat.
PS Did anybody else see Jamie Bamber (Apollo) in
Hornblower? He was great in that. I'd love to see Ioan Gruffudd rejoin him in the BG cast, as I've seen him in other military roles besides Hornblower (eg a mini-series about peace-keeping operations in Bosnia called Soldiers, IIRC) and he does them wonderfully.

...
I'm not sure how to respond to that.

This was in the April 2007 Sci Fi magazine. Battlestar Galactica meets The Simpsons. (they called it "Meet The Cympsons" in the magazine)

Okay - who now thinks that Starbuck might be a cylon? I don't see any other way for her to pull out of this one. What other "way" could Leoban have been preparing her for? Damn. Just ... damn.

OK, this is the first episode I've seen since the one before the boxing one, so I know I'm not up to speed, but....Huh?
-What happened to the show? I'm assuming there was a lot of build-up to whatever just happened, but I felt like I was watching Days of Our Lives in space.

Actually, most of what's been going on since the boxing episode has been character development (as compared with "plot development" - getting closer to Earth or battling the Cylons). Most of the plot background that Maelstorm was based on was old stuff with Leoban and new stuff with the Eye of Jupiter (which was before the boxing one, wasn't it? if not, then it's no wonder you're *really* confused!).
But I thought that Kara had issues with her father - not her mother. I'll have to watch the episode again when she took Helo to her apartment on Caprica...

Yeah, I'm kinda stunned!!!! (Just watched the ep last night.) This was my guess a month and a half ago, but I thought Romeo's arguments against it were valid. Especially in light of that interview you had heard about what happens to three characters this season. But now we're definitely back to it. So what the heck is the overall Cylon plan?!?!?!? Not the destruction of the fleet, nor the destruction of the colonies. Either could have been accomplished, if they'd taken care of her, one way or another, long ago.
And why go to such lengths just to find Earth?

Cylon motivations haven't seemed particularly consistent to date. The title sequence says "they have a plan", and yet the plan seems to have changed several times--from wiping out humanity in order to start fresh, to coexisting with humanity (from their perspective, they had no choice but to force them in this--the humans wouldn't have been able to see past what the Cylon's had done in the past. In theCylon's eyes, the situation on New Caprica would have eventually benefitted everyone), to finding earth and possibly attempting to do the same with a colony that would not have past experience with, and therefore no hostility to, the Cylons, and possibly to learn something about themselves by following the prophecies.
There never seems to have been much of a 'plan' other than finding a way to reconcile their nature with their beliefs (such as creating a hybrid species in the hopes that the human part would ensure their offspring have souls).

Major spoiler for the final couple minutes of the Season Finale, do not look if you don't want to know. It's a rumor from someone who claims to have seen the finale already, so it may be a falsse spoiler, but, it does track with some other stuff.
A rumor going around from someone that is supposed to have seen the Season finale is that "Kara appears in the last two minutes of the episode with no explanation. She speaks only to Lee, who acts like he's seeing a ghost. Kara appears to be less burdened emotionally that she's been previously. She tells him that she knows the way to Earth and is going to lead the fleet there."

The inconsistencies are explained in the episode 'Downloaded'.

Re sindatur's spoiler:
She just said, "You're not Leoban," didn't she? So maybe it's another player, neither human nor cylon. Maybe she's not a cylon, and she will be the one to find Earth.

I understand why the Cylons changed changed their methods. I was just laying down the evidence that the Cylons really seem to know as little about what they're doing as the humans do (okay, that's an exaggeration--the Cylons know more about the prophecies and have put a lot of effort into interpreting them, so they do know a little more than the humans). If there's still a 'plan', as the credits claim, then it's not much of one.

I don't think we know what their plan is. For instance, up until season 2, I had no idea what Number 6's plan was with using Dr Baltar. I think everything will become obvious in another season (or two).

And after season two you do know? As far as I see season two jsut clouded the issue further.

Well, it is clear to me what Number 6 has planned for Gaius
(not, Caprica 6, but Gaius' number 6).

What's your theory on that, by the way
(the people in Caprica and Baltar's heads)
? I thought I had it worked out, but they're laying certain bits on so strongly in s3 that it's either a complete red herring or the writers are completely inept.

I don't understand what you mean, sorry.
I just watched the finale of season 2. Excellent. However, I have to say that I really dislike Roselyn. I'm not saying I dislike the performance, or that I want her out of the show, just that her character aggravates me. I feel sorry for the Cylons, which may sound strange.
Why does she have to vent Leoben Conoy and the Brother Cavills out of the airlock?
Sure, they are the enemy, but I don't think anything is served by her actions, nor am I convinced that the Cylons aren't alive.
