(Moved from the "How do you feel today?" Thread, because I'm a dork and didn't rememer that this thread exists :P)

A very lovely man gave me a gift certificate to Amazon for my birthday/x-mas so I just ordered the following books:

Neverness - David Zindell
Snow Crash - Neal Stephenson
A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess
The World Jones Made - Philip K. Dick
The Darkness That Comes Before: (The Prince of Nothing) - R. Scott Bakker

Also, at a book store last friday I picked up The Wizard of Earthsea, whatever book comes after that one, and The Disposessed by Le Guin, and also The Gunslinger by (duh) King.

God damnit, I'll never get Neverness; the company I ordered it from just emailed me saying they can't deliver it as it's out of print.

Thanks, but you already sent me that last year. I just want the book.

Damn this. Neverness is a classic, yet it's out of print. Bookstores will stock shitty Star Trek and Dr Who novels but wont stock Neverness.

Well its kind of hard for bookstores to stock a book if its out of print

Try www.abebooks.com

The Uk has eight listings that don't seem that pricey and the US has 39 listings that start at a buck.

Too bad I gave my copy away. Can't stand Zindell. Though Neverness was nowhere as wretchedly bad as his current fantasy series.

Amazon Marketplace on amazon.co.uk has 7 copies listed. The six from the UK are priced £0.29-£3.50, and the one from the US is priced £76.23. Supply and demand, eh?
