Feel better soon, LM!

And I'm glad dAN's feeling better.
Safetyjedi, Guinness cake is cake made from Guinness. Duh!
Sorry.

It's a dark chocolate cake (made with Guinness) with a cream cheese frosting. Baking it brings out all the natural chocolatiness of Guinness, and, if you know it's there, you can register just a hint--the barest hint--of maltiness that really complements the chocolate. With the cream cheese frosting, it even
looks like Guinness! In other words, it's possible the greatest baking creation of all time, mixing two of the best things in the whole world: cake and beer.
Now, if I can just perfect my bacon cake, all we'll have to do is wait for the choirs of angels to come down from heaven and tell us humanity has fulfilled its purpose.
I'm feeling pretty good today--to keep myself motivated, I went out yesterday and got a haircut and a new suit for interviews. (I consider it "investing in myself.") Found a gorgeous navy-blue Calvin Klein two-piece on sale for more than half off, and felt not only successful but virtuous. Today, I'm going to get the alterations done, send out resumes, and go for a walk down to the park, since there's no point in wasting all this time off on such a beautiful day.

The movie is definitely within my top 5! (which position it holds depends on whether I've decided to count LOTR as one movie or three)
That would be my top films aswell.

Good luck, dennis! I've had that not-quite-knocked out anesthesia before, too. It's a little weird, but not bad. My thoughts are with you!

I feel like ripping the arms off everyone who crosses my path. Not only is my portable word processor typing irrevocably in Greek, I've also lost the tie Hannah gave me for my birthday, and three books all signed by the author.
I hate not being able to find things!

Yeah, Life should come with an 'undo' command; or at the very least a search function.

You think
you're a geek?
One morning my clock radio went off. Too groggy to wake up, but too annoyed to sleep, I reached out with one fumbling hand, felt the row of buttons along the top of the clock —
—
thought it was a keyboard —
— and tried to type QUIT.
The scary thing is that it actually worked, because of course the Q, U, I, and T keys are all in the same row. But ENTER is one row down, so when I tried to hit it, my hand slipped off the clock and I banged my knuckles on the bedside table.
It was only then that I actually woke up and realized what a daft thing I'd been doing.

A kindred spirit!
Do you also, when you can't quite see something in the distance, automatically try and adjust the resolution?

When we were down in Kentucky, we went out to eat at the lodge in the state park. I told my older son, who loves both meat and cheese , to try a Kentucky Hot Brown. He had no idea what it is, but he trusts me, so he went ahead and ordered one.
They brought out what looked like a mountain of melted cheddar cheese, topped with several strips of bacon. Underneath all the cheese of course, is a huge pile of thin sliced turkey and ham on top of crisp toast.

My son cracked me up. He plucked up the bacon stuffed it in his mouth, and said, with a huge smile,
"Mom, that's like a cherry on top of a sundae."
dennis, loremaster, alan -- I hope all goes well with all of you!!

How do I feel today?
Right now, I feel hungry.

Tired, hot, and more tired. And dirty. And not in the good way. Oh, and painful.
List of injuries:
1. papercut on ear (don't ask)
2. broken toe, from attempting to get to my room and finding the wall
2 and a half. bitten tongue, from the toe
3. a great green and blue and yellow bruise on my lower back, from using my bed as a trampoline (and failing)
3 and a half. headache, from that daft low ceiling
4. a small gash on my right palm, which I have no clue how I got, as I've been wearing heavy gloves all bloody day
5. assorted aches and bruises from stuff falling on me, and the rake smacking me upside the head a few times, and from lifting stuff that weighs more than me.
Well, I've been cleaning the yard. Over in the corner, there's a great bloody lot of, well, junk. And, as I really want my captive gnome back, I've been actually working at it, instead of just running away into the woods and doing bad things to the fairies.
To top it all off, the crazy woman that's writing a story I'm following won't stop with the plot twists!!!!!!!!
*collapses, and huddles in the corner in the fetal position*

duchess: thanks i go in four and half hours.
all: a few years back while working at the freezer. i was sleeping and dreaming of work, most likely because the wall next to the bed was cold. i woke up and told my wife to dial work. she asked why, i said "i just dreamed i was there, they need to pay me" my wife realized i was half asleep and spent the next 15 minutes or so trying to convince me that you can't get payed for dreaming of work.

Actually, you can get paid for dreaming about work. The trouble is that you get paid in dream money. One time I got a whole paycheque in $8 bills . . . and woke up before I could figure out how to spend it.
