Damelon brought up the other day the possibility of a few of us getting together to run the Deadmines, in Westfall. I'm up for it if we can get a group online at the same time. I've been and picked up all the Deadmines-related quests, a couple of which can be accomplished as part of the main one.

In other news, spotted this bug in Stormwind today:

I've already done it, but I'm game.

And I just tried to pan the screen to the right on that image. Took about half a second for me to realize why that didn't work.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Weird! Hadn't seen that one before.

I've started using a wand, since I learned how to enchant one that was better than the staff I was carrying at the time. Good, but a little annoying that it's damned difficult to stop using it when you have to do something like, you know, cast a spell.

I find the best way to cancel spells and wand autoshoot is just to jump. (Its a big and easy button to hit in a pinch)

Deadmines is under Westfall, entrance in Moonbrook.
I have a Blackfathom Deeps one too, it's yellow at the minute.
Just about to run Timkins through to Menethil and hop over to Darkshore, since my quest log is very empty at the minute.

dude...you can share some of MINE. most of my quests are unfinished low level ones here and there all over both continents.

i had taken all the gnomeregan quests but hadn't even done one of them so i abandoned all of them till i have someone to do them with.

I can help ya a bit later - all my characters are either too high or too low for Gnomeregan (Sorus might be okay in a good party, but she's at the minimum level) - but I could run you through. It's not nearly as much fun as going with a good party and experiencing it the way it was meant to be run, but it's still fun and you get nice loot and decent exp.

Sorry, I know I haven't been on all week and I've been caught up in guild stuff today - actually still caught up in guild stuff, but should be done soonish.

Where do you pick up the Gnomeregan quests? I've not had any (though admittedly, I spend most of my time in the Stormwind areas).

It'd be fun to do a dungeon quest together if we could get everyone on at the same time. When I mentioned it to Murrin, the coast was clear for me for the weekend to try one, but now a couple of things have come up to make it difficult for me.

I've got, aside from the mine itself in Westfall, one more People's Militia kill various types of the brotherhood quest and I still have to escort the traitor to the entrance of the mine. In the Redridge Mountains I'm busy going after various gnolls but the Orcs just off the main road leading out of town are still too tough for me since they seem to be pulling together.

I've also got a bunch of green quests in Darkshore.

Making potions pays though. Someone bought some weak troll blood potion I put up for auction for 1 gold, 67 silver. My priest, it seems, has always been living hand to mouth. It's unusual for him to have a little extra in his pocket.

Most of 'em are in Ironforge, though I think there is at least one in the Cathedral in Stormwind.

I did the "escort the traitor" one today, so I could unlock the main deadmines one (kill the Defias leader) it was a very easy quest, for a level 23 char. And at least one of the dungeon quests I have there is green. I still have the last (maybe second to last?) People's Militia one to do, too.

And yeah, I got killed by two orcs just north of Lakeshire when I was level 19, and didn't try again (I'd seen a friend of mine playing in that area before, and I remembered there are a lot of them about); I stuck to the south after that for the quests I had (the gnolls on the south road aren't that tough, though I did get killed once when I pulled too many of them). I'm not doing too bad for cash (roughly 2g50s, IIRC), but not making the sort of money you got for that potion--probably because I'm still putting everything up for pretty low prices compared to what else is on the market.
(First Silver Bar sold for 2s11c. ew bids went in at the last minute. Second Bar started at 2s, had a longer time limit, and is currently heading towards 4s. I'm going to slowly work out how high I can push this and still get paid.)

Silver is worth a lot more than that. Metal and ore prices tend to fluctuate a lot, but if you look at what other people are listing them for and go a couple of silvers lower for the buyout, they will sell. There are always blacksmiths, jewelcrafters, and engineers too lazy to go out and get their own. :P

Most folks go for buyout auctions - instant gratification! They aren't willing to wait 48 hours on the off chance of getting something cheap. Doesn't mean people WON'T place bids, but they generally won't go as high as you'd get for a buyout.

Yeah; I started out on the theory that if almost noone's bidding on a 2s bar of silver, there's no way people are spending the 50s on the other bars listed, but I suspect that's not how this market is working. People just aren't buying smart (like me, bidding on any bronze bars that are going for less than 1s60 per unit, because that's what I can get back selling leggings to vendors).

I would say 50s for a silver bar is on the low side. I'd pay it; I have paid it. Copper, tin, and bronze are not worth much, but silver is fairly rare.

But what do you really get for buying at that price? I wouldn't think it was worth it.

Well, when I was leveling my engineering I would collect metal until I had a full bag in the bank, then go on a crafting spree. If I was a couple of skill points short of learning something new when I ran out of materials, I would generally go to the auction house and buy what I needed. Especially if it was something fairly uncommon.

That said, I also paid for my first two mounts by selling metal in the auction house.

I have a weird but effective way of farming for crafting materials. I collect stuff that is worth more than the stuff I actually need, then sell it in the auction house and use the profits to purchase what I need.

Plus, there are a lot of high-level characters that have either changed professions, or let their professions fall behind. 50s is pocket change to a level 70, much easier and faster to pay than go farming in low-level areas.

So far I'm finding Silver's not that rare. There a few veins on Longshore in Westfall that keep popping up--I like to run ongshore anyway for the Copper and Tin (because I can run the whole coast without pullnig any mobs), so I grab it when I can.

You have to remember that people at level 70 are earning stacks of in-game cash and sometimes they decide to switch to a different profession, which means they need all of the earlier metals/herbs/hides etc which you're gathering. It becomes a time vs. money thing and people are willing to spend quite a bit to avoid having to go out and get the stuff themselves, I think copper bars are selling for well over 1g a stack on my realm at the moment.

A. Because proper tea is theft.
